On 13 Dec 1775, a 96-year old widow was buried at Quarnford in Staffordshire. The clerk added the following in the regsiter: She had a great-great Grand:child Aged seven years and might truly say, Rise up daughter, & go to thy daughter; for thy daughter's daughter has a daughter.

I'm in the Guardian! It's been a joy to learn about this 17th-c. schoolgirl art. I'm grateful to those girls who cut and folded this paper and who must've been devastated as they watched their hard work slip between the floorboards. These items survived by accident and chance

Just discovered this painting on wikipedia, never seen it before, first showed up last year on an auction. It is a Dutch 16th century painting of a bathhouse scene, so let's check it out. Don't look too close, there's naked nude nakedness everywhere. No ogling!

Was lucky enough to be able to get to see the Sargent exhibition on its last day. Was so wonderful to be able to see these beautiful portraits alongside the clothing they depict - such skill on both ends.
