During the joint dialogue forum between refugees and the host community in Kakuma, Turkana County, on 13th May 2026, collaborative efforts on peacebuilding, cohesion, and integration were deliberated and agreed on as follows:
· Form a joint peace committee and hold meetings;
· Involve youth as components of peace infrastructure;
· Economic empowerment – do business together and share common markets to build inter-community relations;
· Conduct dialogue forums, capacity building, sports for peace activities that bring refugees and the host community together;
· Enhance security through Early Warning Early response systems and the Nyumba Kumi Initiative to avert conflict and have one-on-one information sharing with security actors.
· Inclusion of the host community in security structures (NPR) has improved security and should continue to be enhanced;
· Refugees to respect and adhere to the laws of Kenya.
The dialogue was facilitated by NCIC and its partners @GenPrev, @RCKKenya, and @DRSKenya and was graced by @TurkanaCountyKE and security organs. #AmaniKwaGround @InteriorKE
