In 2015 Lenovo shipped laptops with software that broke HTTPS for every user. Installed deliberately for ad revenue. Lenovo pre-installed a piece of adware called Superfish on consumer laptops starting September 2014. Its purpose was to scan every image you view on the internet and inject ads for similar products. To do that on HTTPS pages, it needed to intercept your encrypted traffic. So it did something catastrophic. it installed itself as a trusted root certificate authority on your laptop. Meaning your browser treated Superfish as a trusted source of certificates, the same level of trust as VeriSign, DigiCert, or your bank's own certificate authority. Everything you did over HTTPS- banking, email. shopping. medical records was being decrypted by Superfish, analyzed for images, and re-encrypted before it reached you. then it got worse. Every Lenovo laptop shipped with the exact same certificate and the exact same private key. The password protecting that private key was cracked in three hours by Security researcher, Rob Graham (Errata Security). The password was "komodia." The name of the Israeli company that made the code. Once cracked, anyone with that private key could impersonate any website to any Lenovo user on earth. your bank. your email. any HTTPS site. a fake page would show a valid padlock and your browser would trust it completely. Lenovo's initial response: "we have thoroughly investigated this technology and do not find any evidence to substantiate security concerns." Then the password was posted publicly online. Lenovo paid $7.3 million to settle the class action lawsuit. The EFF called it "catastrophically irresponsible." Crazy stuff.

But that's because of the way the unemployment rate is calculated. Not because proper jobs are being created. Gen Z is more educated and more ambitious than any generation before it. The problem is that enough good jobs haven't been created for the generation. The share of educated youths among all unemployed people also increased, from 54.2 percent in 2000 to 65.7 percent in 2022. India's employment problem is therefore no longer one of an uneducated workforce. Drunk Tourists Drive Into Haridwar’s Zero Zone, Several Injured as Car Hits Pilgrims Panic gripped Har Ki Pauri in Haridwar on Saturday night after a group of allegedly intoxicated youths from Uttar Pradesh drove their car into the Zero Zone, an area where vehicles are prohibited due to heavy pedestrian movement. According to reports, the youths allegedly broke through police barricades and entered the crowded market road near Har Ki Pauri. With thousands of pilgrims and visitors in the area, the vehicle reportedly struck several pedestrians while attempting to move through the packed street, leaving multiple people injured. Angry locals and pilgrims surrounded the vehicle, pulled the occupants out and assaulted them before police arrived. Police rushed to the spot and managed to rescue the accused from the crowd. While some occupants reportedly fled, two individuals were detained along with the car. They were medically examined and arrested under relevant legal provisions.

Junaid, who was distributing food to protestors at Jantar Mantar, was allegedly picked up by Delhi Police on the night of 24 July. He was kept blindfolded throughout the night. The next morning, an officer questioned him about the source of his funding and how he was managing to distribute so much food. After the interrogation, the police left him in Mussoorie (Uttarakhand) and departed. From there, Junaid took a cab and returned to Delhi on 25 July.

KAYALVIZHI AZHAGIRI -- GRANDDAUGHTER OF FORMER CHIEF MINISTER M KARUNANIDHI BOOKED FOR SLAPPING SBI BRANCH MANAGER IN ADYAR Adyar police registered a case against Kayalvizhi Azhagiri, granddaughter of former chief minister M Karunanidhi, for slapping an SBI branch manager at the bank's NRI branch in Adyar on July 20 following a dispute over a malfunctioning lift in her commercial building. Kayalvizhi Azhagiri owns a commercial property in Adyar where the SBI NRI branch functions. Branch manager Harshin Singh had complained to the property maintenance person about a malfunctioning lift in the building. As the issue remained unresolved, Singh escalated the complaint to Kayalvizhi. When Kayalvizhi visited the bank on July 20, she got into an argument with Singh over the lift issue and slapped him on the cheek. The incident was captured on CCTV. Singh informed the bank's senior officials about the incident and shared the CCTV footage with them. Chief Manager of SBI NRI branch Namachivayam lodged a formal complaint at Adyar police station. The CCTV footage was circulated on social media on Saturday, following which Adyar police registered a case against Kayalvizhi Azhagiri under charges of intimidation and assault.
