@GenocidalAtom

A place for whatever ruffles my feathers. I get likes from enough fake accounts in my short list of comments to tell me that 90% of engagement isn't real.

“An Illinois city just approved 14 data centers after hearing six straight hours of people begging them not to.” Residents packed the City Council meeting to oppose the project. Public comment went on for hours. In the end, officials unanimously voted yes.

President Trump's profanity-laden Easter threat to attack Iran's civilian infrastructure—power plants and bridges—are the words of a frustrated and immoral madman. Many experts agree that such attacks would be war crimes under international law. To our military leaders, remember this: You are legally required to refuse orders to commit war crimes.

@Sadie_NC Now, take it a step further. I paid for a room without a view at the beach hotel but the room with a view has no one in it. Should I just be able to stay in any hotel room? NO. Then mentality is juvenile. SIT IN THE DAMNED SEAT YOU PAID FOR. PERIOD.

Southwest Airlines tells this woman that she is in the wrong seat. She needs to go to the seat she purchased, even though the seat she moved to is empty. Should passengers be able to sit in any open seat?

@UinPen @Jaytee116James @johnrhanger FEDERAL $ are 1/3 of CA's budget. More than 1/3 of NY's. Just under 1/3 to IL. Nice lack of understanding. So either your intentionally in the dark or just simply in the dark, either way, same result. Yeah, federal debt has NOTHING to do with the funding the states. ZERO! /s

"A typical electric vehicle uses about 7.5 kWh of electricity to travel 25 miles...charging with household electricity, that power costs about $1.30 on average, far less than a gallon of gasoline." Americans pay ~$2.1 billion more per week to fuel their autos. EV is solution.

@cityaestheticss Let's not forget that something can be uniquely designed and still be a monstrosity. Anything that ushers a first response of "WTF is that?" is not a great design.

While I think it’s super kitsch to put text on a building, the Obama presidential library is getting wayyyy too much hate. It’s a relatively simple building, made to look like a modern, almost Egyptian revival inspired monolithic monument. It’s a fine design.

@UinPen @Jaytee116James @johnrhanger I had to pinch myself. Someone said "You're right" on X? :) But what you call generosity is actually a lot of debt. The top 3 highest debt states: CA, NY, IL, all blue. Total 1T state debt. If you factor in local debt, the numbers are far worse. CA > 1T alone. Unsustainable.

@Coste1Costello @samstein Weird to complain about something that cost you nothing yet not make a peep about billions in fraud... fraud that drives up your healthcare, rent and groceries. Also, you limit your own income, not the government. Want to afford more? Go make more.

Krispy Kreme Price Increases (2016 → 2025): Assorted Dozen Donuts $8.49 → $26.69 Single Glazed Donut $1.09 → $2.59 Dozen Original Glazed $7.99 → $19.99 Some of these are well over a 100% INCREASE. This isn’t just inflation — it’s robbery.

@SocialNomadRach The "living wage" argument is dumb. If they restaurant paid them more then IT IS YOUR JOB, because your burger goes from $9 to $12... and they get what $15? $20? Average is $25 for wait staff. You pay more, they make less. Does that make ANY sense?

@LucasPeczek @johnrhanger Did you just pretend that routine and rare scenarios are the same? Been driving 30 years. NOT ONCE broke ANYTHING with timing/egr/cats/injectors/etc. but despite mountains of repair data that say ev repair is 30% more. your experience must be the only one that matters, right?

If you can replace a 2025 vehicle engine for $5000 including labor, then you are not comparing apples. That vehicle is not in the same league. I’ve had two of my 12 fleet vehicles needing engines, another needing a transmission and these vehicles were between 9-15 years old. All were well above $5k for each of these services. I’ve driven my daily driver EV for 3.5 years. $0 cost, zero repairs needed under warranty. I will be buying tires in the next month. That is it. I don’t wait at gas stations anymore either. My car quietly charges itself from about 20% to 80% while I sleep every couple of days, averaging roughly $1.50 for each overnight top‑up EVs don’t need to worry about oil changes, oil filters, spark plugs, ignition coils, timing belts or chains, fuel injectors, fuel filters, fuel pumps, engine air filters, exhaust components like mufflers, catalytic converters, oxygen sensors, or EGR systems, engine tune‑ups, multi‑speed automatic or manual transmissions, transmission fluid changes, clutches, torque converters, or smog/emissions system maintenance tied to the tailpipe. EVs also use regenerative braking, so they typically go through brake pads and rotors much more slowly, often lasting several times longer than on a comparable gas car with fewer replacements and less frequent brake service overall and only occasional checks and fluid changes. Tell me again, how you know better than real world experience.

@rrothWA @johnrhanger I guess it depends on what you prefer, as you said. I own a "fun" car.. and I don't find ev's more fun to drive than it... the lightest ev is still 1000 pounds more than my fun car. Having fun for me isn't about going fast. It's the experience, even including the noise.

@LucasPeczek @johnrhanger My car is a 2025. I can replace the engine for $5K installed. The absolutely cheapest EV battery is about $8K, not installed. A wheel bearing replacement for me: up to $500... and EV, up to $1,100. Apples to apples, ev's cost more over time and that $ is not easily recovered.

@UinPen @Jaytee116James @johnrhanger Serious question here. I always this said.. but 6 of the 10 top welfare states are blue. The entire top 5 states by % of population on welfare are all blue. 7 of the top 10 highest welfare $ per person are blue. At what point do "red states" take over this title?
