The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
In July, the Church will open 55 new missions to accommodate a growing number of missionaries already called. The addition will bring the total number of missions to 506 and allow missionaries to better support the growing number of congregations worldwide. “What we are witnessing today is more than growth in numbers,” Elder Dale G. Renlund (@DaleGRenlund) of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles said in a May 2026 social post. “Across the world, missionaries are demonstrating a deep devotion to the Savior and a sincere consecration to His work. An increasing number express that their fundamental reason for serving is their love for Jesus Christ and their desire to join Him in His work — an inspiring reflection of the faith and commitment that characterize today’s missionary force. “As the work goes forward, this is indeed a joyous and marvelous work and a wonder.” Learn more on Church Newsroom. newsroom.churchofjesuschrist.org/article/church…

Had a fantastic week in Tanzania at #TFBS2026! So grateful the Rwandan NICU teams from @kfaisalhospital and @RwaMilitaryHosp could join me, along with two neonatal fellows. They presented their research, we learned a lot, and they’re eager to head back home to implement changes and share what they’ve learned. My heart ❤️will always be in Rwanda! 🇷🇼 @Neonatal_Africa

After having consulted the #DRC and #Uganda where the #Ebola disease caused by Bundibugyo virus is known to be currently occurring, I determine that the epidemic constitutes a public health emergency of international concern (PHEIC), as defined in the provisions of IHR. What an amazing week with amazing individuals!
Scott Guthrie@drsgu3

What an unforgettable week at the Tiny Feet Big Steps 2026 Neonatology Conference sponsored by @Neonatal_Africa in Arusha, Tanzania! Just over 200 nurses and doctors from 22 countries came together for five days of powerful lectures, life-saving hands-on workshops, and real collaboration to advance neonatal care across Africa. The energy was electric from Day 1 and the SALSA workshop right up through the final sessions. As always, Cultural Night was one of the absolute highlights: everyone in beautiful traditional attire, dancing the night away, and even adopting me into the Maasai tribe! The most inspiring part? Seeing the amazing improvements already happening across the continent and the unbelievable enthusiasm our African colleagues bring to this work. They are taking these skills and protocols home to change outcomes for the tiniest patients. Grateful beyond words to be part of this growing movement. TFBS is heading to Uganda in early November — can’t wait to see many of you there! #TFBS2026 #ICHAfrica #Neonatology #NICU #GlobalHealth #NeoTwitter #TinyFeetBigSteps @ChildrensatEHS
