Kind of a sad story: buddy of mine from high school is about to lose his farm. Been in the family since 1919. Final straw was nasty crop blight this winter. So he's gonna pursue being a DJ. Weird transition, I know, but what else is he supposed to do with all those sick beets.

There was plenty of space to include them in the Tweet. You have a Verified account. You didn't have to pass it off that way. Come the fuck on.

actually this is an example of a filmmaker using his authorial voice to make the incredibly astute observation that we are living in the political and cultural hellhole that is the long tail of 2020. the exact timeline doesn’t really matter. it’s not a documentary

like sorry the data center plot in Eddington is a great example of the filmmaker's lack of historical consciousness—these were not a big deal in 2020 even for the speculative capitalists driving their crash construction, the AI & data center bubble begins in 2022

we have got to stop saying things like "I don't dream of labor" when asked about a "dream job" or getting all bent out of shape by the phrase "earning a living." as long as humans have been around, they have had to work to survive under a wide variety of different systems, some much more exploitative than others. our current system is flawed and should continue be improved upon, but oh my god some of you just don't want to do anything.
