President Trump is always building “golden bridges” for Russia.
The idea 💡 seemingly to create a practical path for Russia to gradually connect with Europe in a realistic, independent way that lets everyone save face instead of forcing total defeat when they’re ready to negotiate so as not to fall into total collapse and Sino vassalage.
‼️ But if that subtle European option is getting too hard, Orban is too isolated politically, the focus is shifting to a tighter more direct deal with Belarus under Lukashenko. Less fancy or nuanced - but more obvious - while still preventing Russia from being permanently cut off and isolated.
Old Cold War Rules apply: never leave a peer nuclear super power with the choice between total defeat and humiliation - or - nuclear war.
