@ThatOther_Dude @iamAtheistGirl Not sure what you're getting at. Am I saying someone's beliefs hinder someone else, and the hindered person won't accept those beliefs? I think you'll be a bit lonely saying no one is entitled to their own opinion.

@GeoffW59559 @AtheistPhoenix First, not systematically. Second, a lot of faithful people do horrible things and go unpunished, but since they're faithful they go to heaven according to what you said, that's no justice

@GeoffW59559 @AtheistPhoenix A good person, according to my morals, is a person who does good things and not bad things, according to my morals. My morals are mostly defined by basic empathy and consequencialism.

@GeoffW59559 @AtheistPhoenix He's not just either for exactly the same reason though. And we could see that no he isn't benevolent, for the example I've given. And he's quite far from those 4 things

@New_Luss @AtheistPhoenix I've never had any of those rules enforced on me. But I do know it's bad to murder, steal, etc. They're not all irrelevant. Jesus said He came to fulfill the law.

@ToriatheistTori Heard of compulsive gambling? And where in the Bible does it say God asks for money? You won't find it. But the church needs money to carry out charitable activities. Giving is encouraged, but not mandated.

@New_Luss @AtheistPhoenix God is loving and just. No one said He is benevolent (the word isn't used in the Bible), but we can see that He is, as He gave His only Son to provide a way back to Him - through His Son's death and resurrection. He's also Good, Merciful, Compassionate and Kind.

@New_Luss @AtheistPhoenix Most of the rules are in the Old Testament, which precedes Jesus' coming. Jesus said these rules are summed up by 2: Love God with all your heart, soul and mind, and love your neighbour as yourself. This is to be in response to God's love, not as a means of getting into heaven.

@GeoffW59559 @AtheistPhoenix We're driving off topic but that response raises more questions. If the only things needed are believing in god and accepting Jesus' sacrifice, why are there so many written rules in the Bible ?
