James Furlong has completed a permanent move from Hull City to Slovenian giants NK Maribor, where he’ll link up with fellow Irishman Ali Reghba!🇮🇪
Maribor currently sit third in the Slovenian top flight. A slightly surprising switch for the full-back, but most importantly it’s a chance to get back to regular senior football at a good level.
Furlong has signed a deal until the end of the season with an option to extend - a big opportunity to kickstart the next chapter of his career and make his mark in Slovenia.

Heffernan leaves Newcastle United, where he captained the club’s under-21 side, to get his first real taste of men’s football with Harrogate, signing an 18-month deal.
A great move for the talented defender, who badly needed regular first-team action, and one that could put him back into Jim Crawford’s thinking with the Ireland U21s.

@relentlesskoi I am not sure "sabotaging" is the right word. Parents have reservations about the language etc. The FAI should be getting involved in this really, there should be some sort of FAI liason living in that part of Europe to help lads who choose that route. It won't happen though

Seeing some “Sligo should have got more” but, as ever, it’s the buying clubs that set the market for a player, not the selling club when a) players want to move & b) clubs can’t hang on & lose players for compensation.

Owen Elding is set to leave Sligo Rovers and sign for Hibernian, as first reported by @jessicafarry ☘️ It’s also my understanding that the fee is as low as €400,000 with significant adds on for the reigning League of Ireland Young Player of the Year - a baffling figure, in all honesty, for a player of such quality and potential. Elding will be a huge loss to Sligo Rovers and to the league on the eve of the new League of Ireland campaign, which kicks off next Friday. A deal has now been agreed for the 19-year-old, and it’s looking increasingly likely that he could make his Hibernian debut this Sunday against Rangers.
