#HowIUsedGISToday Continuing on our climate change citizen science programme, today we were using the fabulous GIS app Windy.com to change scale to explore regional patterns in temperature. It may be chilly atm in the UK. But other places are searingly hot.

4/ So, here was my workflow. Set up @ArcGISSurvey123 to allow me to plot the data from the static map I had onto a GIS map. 10 minutes later and I had a digital version of the point values for temperature.

@English_MrsD These hours are very typical of a life before action short of strike, in small departments with no technicians or CA that can help out and no one to help share the work load.

There is something terribly wrong here. No-one should be spending that amount of time working. Yes, there are pinch points at certain times of year - but this working pattern is not sustainable. So grateful that I still get to enjoy my job!

@missdcox Changing the direction slightly, when HoDs get paid so little, who wld go down this route either FT or PT?

I find it bonkers that a Head of department that is part-time, fulfils the role of HOD but gets paid part-time for it. Utterly bonkers.

@Soarpoints @missdcox Never really found this argument convincing with HOD. There are *extremely* few (I’d actually say no) HOD-responsible *emergencies*. If something happens on a Tuesday I can pick it up on Wednesday when I’m in.

MINDsets science equipment, happily selling wonderful science equipment to the world of education but no longer sell, stock or make the data logger interface which makes the equipment work. So I have £500 of worthless equipment. Unimpressed

In a surprising turn of events, Hurricane #Lee rapidly weakened from Category 5 to Category 3 today as strong wind shear shredded the storm's core. Many models failed to pick up on this wind shear, but it's possible the storm could restrengthen to Category 5 later this weekend as shear lightens up.
