I’m not sure where you get that average number from, that’s not even close for K-12. Some averages include administration, that makes for sense, they are grossly over paid. Teachers work 180 days a year plus in-service, plus continuing education. They buy most if not all their own supplies. They are treated like crap and have no stability. It’s not a great gig…

Yep. If you look at the average pay of US teachers, about $74,200, that's pretty good. Especially as most do not have to work about 3 months of the year. That means, translated to a full year, their earnings would be about $98,900 annually. They get the vacation days their students get, which many workers don't get. Many use the summer to enhance earnings or start businesses.

Nothing will change or get better in our education system until the teachers unions are abolished.
