There’s a lot of good line items in the budget, but mobile phone pouches? That’s not one of them! A waste of money and embarrassment. It was like pulling teeth to get the support from the Minister to roll out solar panels for all schools and then this ludicrous idea gets funding

My daughter's secondary school has used the phone pouches for two or three years now. They're Yondr pouches, the same as what some comedians and musicians insist on being used at their gigs. A few observations from her experience:

Everyone in Government agrees we need at least 50,000 new homes every year. That's not going to be possible if we let speculators sit on land zoned for development and serviced with infrastructure such as electricity wires, water supplies and transport.

Solar panels must be among the most biodiversity-friendly of infrastructures. I wouldn't like to see them on peatlands but elsewhere they are probably beneficial for nature (no slurry/fertilisers, no ploughing, greater potential for wild plants & insects)

@whittledaway It's being done in SA with solar AND the agri underneath. It's just not policy here, Padraic. €15k an acre income a year AND the agri underneath or fauna (biodiversity) is then €500 a year an acre. Would shatter lobbyist BS that "need farmland for food" as it's 4x higher income
