@quamen The layout was cleverly designed such that, even though there were 20% more people, it felt like 20% less. Lots of open space.

@quamen Keeping partitions high enough you can't see anyone while you're focused; low enough so that you can see others by "meerkating"

@quamen Lots of unbookable breakout spaces, use of headphones, respect for people trying to focus. Take meetings into rooms, keep noise low.

@quamen The collaboration went from okay to bad to excellent in the different environments. But there are things that made it work.

@quamen I worked in a large team in half open plan, followed by offices, followed by good open plan over 6 mths.

@quamen I actually disagree. Open plan, done well, can be very effective and improve teamwork. This has been my experience.
