Nvidia CEO: people with really high expectations have very low resilience

A team from the University of Galway's Designing Futures Programme, Director of Educational Design Research, Professor Tony Hall, and Student Success Coaches Majella Perry, Niamh Tobin, Denise McBride and Ger Daly were invited to deliver a design thinking workshop to the Irish Government's Department of Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science at their November 2023 All Staff Town Hall, with approximately 200 participants engaging in the session. But, more to the point, intense colour temperatures keep us awake — because they are similar to daylight, and so our body tells us to stay awake. Hence doctors have warned that white LEDs will disrupt our circadian rhythms and our ability to sleep — and even damage our eyesight.

Why replacing orange street lights is an aesthetic downgrade — and bad for our health:

In 1981, Dr. Michael Shannon worked tirelessly through the night to successfully rescue a premature baby boy. 30 years later, in 2011, Dr. Shannon was trapped in his burning SUV following a collision with a semi-truck. Miraculously, he was rescued from the blazing vehicle by Chris Trokey, a paramedic with the Orange County Fire Authority. Remarkably, it was revealed that Chris Trokey was the same premature baby Dr. Shannon had delivered three decades earlier.
