@conoro Not sure how one "falls behind" with a neural net. It seems that maybe the depth of thought is not as deep as it once was... Like supermarket product shrinkage. They sneak it in, hoping you won't notice.

I've been a supporter of Gemini (flash & pro) up until now, but it's no longer fit for purpose. It fails to keep to a requirement spec and it silently inserts old code that had been rejected due to bugs. Not fit for coding. Piss poor.

@GoogleAIStudio Trying to create ZephyrRTOS USB-UART bridge firmware for ESP32-S3 to control DTR+RTS output while providing full compatibility with standard USB CDC serial applications and preventing unwanted resets when PuTTY is opened or closed. Proving impossible for any AI agent to get right

I'm so incredibly excited that my anthropic-engineering-rss-feed repo, written by Claude in 5 minutes, could be huge with the right help.

@babayagatwt Gemini suits me fine. Still, they're playing a different game... Like saying "what I cannot figure out is why India struggles to compete with US at baseball (cos they're awesome at cricket)".

I still can’t figure out why Gemini struggles to compete with Claude and GPT. - Owns Chrome - Backed by Android - Stores most search results - Holds ~95% search history - Google has the biggest user data - Even incognito data isn’t fully private So what’s the problem?

Back to Gemini Flash. Been watching the running comments out of boredom... I mean who trains these models. Like fricken teenagers... "Oh my God, what a discovery...". Certainly based on current performance, these AI agents are all Kevin's from the back of the classroom.

In Antigravity you choose your agent. I have just switched to Claude Sonnet 4.6 from Gemini Flash 3.5. Bloomin heck. The number of crap assumptions it makes is off the scale. Dumfounded. It appears incapable of doing embedded coding.

When things go wrong they really do go wrong in @antigravity 2.0. Start with a prompt, out pops a lovely implementation plan. Proceed. Then the fun happens... With one fuck up after another until a time is reached where nothing works. So much for the verification steps. Dream on.

Cork CoCo giving planning permission for 240+ houses/apts at the worst traffic pinch point in Bandon whilst our side of the town has lots of space, wide roads and facilities. 🙄 I'm sure the North Relief Road will be built by 2070. South one now waiting 30 yrs to be finished.

@conoro Yet to see others (especially media) say this... "It is always possible to identify jobs at risk; it is never possible to predict the creation of jobs which are, by definition, unimaginable."

@tetsuoai the hard part becomes writing instructions so clear the agent does what you intended. that's a skill engineers don't usually have.

You'd like to think they understood why. Sadly not. Clearly, innovation outside the corporate bureaucracy is not considered relevant. These posts are trying to justify this mad tax, which just smacks of @donaldtusk belligerence.
European Commission@EU_Commission

Until now, items worth €150 or less entered the EU duty-free. That exemption made sense decades ago, when buying from abroad was occasional. Today, billions of parcels flood the EU every year.

@RailUsersIe Easier said than done when you find yourself caught between a rock and a hard place. IMO, the problem is partly driven by this gradual shift to make critical systems more software driven than relying on simpler old-school interlocking PLC-driven architecture. No more pass/fail.

General reflection while waiting for Antigravity to complete what I thought was a simple task... There needs to be an intermediate step which can AI determine whether 'fast', 'medium' or 'deep' thought is best for a task. It's a manual selection choice at the mo. Often forgotten.

What is the point of this "implementation plan" - formality for formality sake. It only becomes useful if you can challenge and refine key points. @antigravity I trust this "add comments" feature is a temporary measure. It needs to be chat based. Instant AI response required.
Colin G(I○) 🇮🇪🇬🇧🇿🇦@GerrikoIO

I'm beginning to like Antigravity 2. It's early days but finding it quite helpful. It reminds me of that trap we fall into when things are complex. Just make the process more structured and formal then you'll fool yourself into believing you're actually solving problems quicker.

Maxing out my @antigravity 2.0 for a week now. I don't support this general AI shift towards "more autonomy". Fools gold, IMO. AI is a tool not an employee. I shouldn't have to dive in to adjust config settings to allow yay or nay on each and every code change. Should be default
