I live in Red Country.
Our president is very, very good at telling people what we want to hear, making us feel like he understands us and convincing us that we are victims and only he can protect them. These are all the tricks of a master big city con man.
Sadly, rural Americans, who are the most hopeful. good-hearted, and trusting among us are often his biggest victims.
Here are just a few of his beautiful sounding promises that are really just lies:
- end the Ukraine war BEFORE inauguration
- Mexico will pay for the wall
- 2020 election was stolen
- he will release his taxes
- healthcare plan in two weeks, 8 years ago
All hat, no cattle.
The real Trump is a nanny raised, New York City suit who's never worn a pair of boots, has never gotten his hands dirty and whose idea of the wilderness is the rough on one of his golf courses. He literally thinks we should be "raking" our forests.
His tariffs will hurt farmers by shutting off foreign markets and hurt blue-collar workers by dramatically raising the cost of materials in the construction and manufacturing industries.
His blind cuts to the dept. of agriculture and interior will further hurt farmers and disruption services on our most precious lands.
He's been playing us for suckers. That's what he does.
@vincent56656740@sensiblemiddle Around 15,000 people were arrested during the George Floyd riots. None received pardons and none will get slash fund payouts.
You can shut up about the j6 insurrectionists now
A pouting Donald Trump inspired the J6th terrorist attack on our Capitol with his self absorbed lies about a stolen election. If ANYONE deserves restitution it’s the brave officers who defended the Constitution on that disgusting day.
Good Sunday Romney
@FindingBeauty67@randy_paige2@sensiblemiddle I get that maga people are really super dumb and gullible but are they really so easily tricked by the fbi into storming the capital?
"I don’t make bad deals!": President Trump blasts former President Obama's Iran deal, "which gave Iran massive amounts of CASH, and a clear and open path to a Nuclear Weapon."
@carolmswain LUKE 10:18
And He said unto them, “I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven.
Put that scripture into Google translate from English to Hebrew.
You’ll hear the words Barack and Obama clear as day.
Again, hard core MAGA will find ways to excuse Trump, always.
But the entire reason for this, ACCORDING TO TRUMP, was to get rid the nuclear threat.
Not negotiate. Not talk. To get rid of it forever.
If he doesn't do that, this was all an epic, historic failure.
@passcoderonald - strait still closed
- no regime change
- >$30B spent

Complete botch job
@democracynow Democrats imported 20 million Third World mutants into this country during Biden’s term. None of them were tested for disease. Democrats are cancer.
Dr. Craig Spencer is a public health professor and emergency medicine physician at Brown University who survived Ebola in 2014. He says it's not a coincidence that the world is seeing a new outbreak of the disease, as well as hantavirus and rising rates of measles in the United States.
"If you recall, it was just over a year ago that Elon Musk gleefully declared that they were throwing USAID into the wood chipper. And you may recall that Elon Musk also sheepishly said at his first Cabinet meeting that he mistakenly canceled Ebola prevention but turned it back on. For many folks, the story ended there, but what actually happened was there was an Ebola outbreak, and DOGE and Elon Musk cut all the support that we normally would have been giving to respond to that Ebola outbreak. The result was that exactly USAID, who in the past would have been supporting things like airport screening in Uganda, was not providing that logistical or financial support. USAID and other partners would have been providing support to make sure testing was adequate, to make sure a vaccine rollout could have taken place, but we didn’t have USAID on the ground.
"Similarly, CDC has long had relationships in this part of the continent, in Congo and in Uganda, and a lot of those relationships have broken down and withered over the past year, because we just haven’t been paying. Similarly, the U.S. has pulled out of the World Health Organization over the last year, which means that in normal circumstances our CDC folks are not able to even talk to World Health Organization people, something that is absolutely unbelievable and an incredible mistake for something that we should be able to do and be prepared for at all points.
"And the result is what we’ve seen over the past couple of weeks with hantavirus, we’ve seen with the dramatic increase in number of measles cases in the U.S., and now Ebola in DR Congo and across the border in Kampala. This is not all just a coincidence. This is a consequence of us cutting back our support, not only here at home, but also abroad.

Capitalism vs socialism. Capitalism just works so much better; competition drives efficiency, quality, and innovation up, while driving costs down.
That said, there are quite a few services whose value cannot be properly monetized: roads, public lands, emergency services and parks. Socialism is the only answer for those.
My Political Ideology and why I have no home on the Right or the Left.
Crime: Far Right. People should be severely punished for crimes in the form of a few strokes plus mandatory prison labor to repay their debt to society. That includes white collar scammers as well. Law and order for absolutely everyone. Once the debt has been repaid they can rejoin society and know not to ever do that again. This alone would save our country a fortune.
Environment: Far Left. I cannot believe we won’t produce renewables like China does per capita or acknowledge the cruelty and waste of resources from animal agriculture. I’m even vegan because of this even though I really don’t identify with the movement.
National Security: Far Right. Coexistence is great, as is our democracy, but only if people entering want to coexist with us and provide a concrete plan to contribute and be fully self sufficient. You cannot have a welfare state with open borders inviting people to leech off the government, especially those that hate you because of race or religion. It’s insanity and a path to a low trust society and financial ruin.
Infrastructure: Left and Right. The left, and frankly the far left, are the only ones who seem to understand the absurdity and financial suicide that is American car culture. The American suburbs are going to forever be a drain on resources and are turning into a Ponzi scheme of repairs that will never have funding. It has also ruined our cities and made them shells of their former glory, from Los Angeles to Atlanta. Urbanism based on walking, cycling, transit, and high density housing is the only fiscally responsible and realistic solution for a great city and economy.
Where it goes right wing is on building. Everything from sewers and bridges to the all important housing. Blue cities have acted in the most selfish and illiberal fashion imaginable by embracing NIMBYism and pushing people out to other states that actually allow developers to build desperately needed housing. Liberals have sat around claiming parking lots are historic or that apartments would damage neighborhood character or the environment, when deep down many of them simply don’t want anyone new near them competing for parking or lowering their Zestimate. It’s complete selfishness, and ironic that Texas will let you build while California often won’t.
Healthcare: Liberal. We have to have some sort of baseline healthcare for everyone, a place anyone can go and get treated. It already exists in practice if you are irresponsible and broke, or if you are a veteran. Liberals do need to understand that quality will drop though, and it cannot include everything imaginable. There is only money for absolute health necessities and emergencies for citizens. It’s high time we just do it for everyone, while rich people can still use the free market and expensive private options if they wish. No more GoFundMes for cancer treatment. But everyone also needs to be prepared for the reality check that a government hospital is not going to feel like the one billing you $10K to spend the night. Compromises will be made.
Unions: Right and Left. Public unions are inherently problematic because the entire model is built around leveraging taxpayers and holding government services hostage. They should not exist. On private sector unions, you can make the argument that there need to be protections, and that Amazon should pay people working 40 hours a week enough to live a modest life.
Capitalism vs Socialism: Right Wing. Capitalism has done more to eradicate poverty than any other system in history. The best minds in every sector competing against each other has brought forth abundance that queens and kings could never have imagined for ordinary people. Our poor people are even obese. The free market is the greatest tool for human prosperity, with the main caveat being that competition has to remain real. If automation crushes the job market, then a baseline UBI may become essential, even if that sounds like socialism.
Having no competition or desire to be great is why so many government services are flailing and becoming lackluster. They are accountable to nobody. There is no quarterly report, no real performance review. Too often it becomes a jobs program for mediocrity, and it is failing an entire generation. We cannot have one conglomerate owning everything and buying up all competition. The market has to stay competitive, and frankly our government services need this more than anywhere else.
NYC spends roughly $44K per student for a corrupt teachers union to hand society illiterate children. We would be better off having private schools compete for vouchers while mandating every child attend one. We would have the best education system in the world that way.
If you read this, thank you.
