It’s International Childhood Cancer day. And this time on a Sunday nearly two years ago I held my little boy in my arms as he died of a DIPG brain tumour. We were left to pick up the pieces, left to keep living. Left to keep fighting, not for Billy, but in his name,

Ten years ago today, at 11:11 a.m. on February 16, 2016, my 7-year old daughter Avery, took her final breath on earth. A decade later, she continues to inspire and impact while bringing hope and we continue to honor her and fight back against childhood brain cancer and DIPG. Loved, missed, but never forgotten #AveryStrong Read more: averystrongdipg.org/blog/february-…

World Cancer Day 2026 is observed on February 4 to raise awareness, promote prevention, and encourage early detection of cancer. With the theme “United by Unique,” it highlights people-centered care and equity in treatment. Experts stress that early screening, healthy lifestyles, and informed choices can prevent many cancers and significantly improve survival outcomes. Kids get cancer too. When a child dies from cancer, they lose 71 years of life...

GOOD NEWS! We are increasing the number of long term #ChildhoodCancer survivors! BAD NEWS: With the increase in survivors, cardiovascular complications (such as coronary artery disease, and stroke, but especially congestive heart failure (CHF) have emerged as a leading cause of morbidity and mortality in long-term survivors of childhood cancer. In fact, childhood cancer survivors are at a 15-fold increased risk of developing CHF and are at 7-fold higher risk of premature death due to cardiac causes, when compared with the general population. There is a strong dose dependent relation between anthracycline chemotherapy exposure and CHF risk, and the risk is higher among those exposed to chest radiation. We are deeply saddened to share that Richard Orna passed away in December 2025, aged just 40. 💛 Richard bravely shared his story with us in September 2023, determined to raise awareness of glioblastoma and to fight for better options for patients and families facing this devastating disease. Today his family and friends remember Richard at his memorial service, as we carry his legacy forward, we continue to raise awareness and fund vital research to help find a cure. He will forever be in our hearts. #BrainTumourResearch #TogetherWeWillFindACure #Glioblastoma

My precious 13 year old Daughter & her little brother on Christmas Eve, just seven short days before she left this world for Heaven after her courageous fight with #BrainCancer 💔 Every light on the tree, every carol, every moment now carries the ache of her absence & the warmth of her everlasting love. Christmas will never be the same, yet it shines brighter because she is forever part of it. 🎄❤️

In 2025, while the world expanded HPV vaccination, eliminated measles in new countries, and deployed advanced HIV prevention, the US saw vaccine attacks undermine HPV progress, measles outbreaks surging, and funding cuts weaken HIV prevention programs. Deeply avoidable failures.

Millions of pounds for research into brain tumours unlocked! We welcome a significant Government investment, with more than £13 million now being made available for research and more funding for trials expected next year. This milestone includes a new UK-wide Brain Tumour Research Consortium through the National Institute for Health and Care Research, bringing together charities, clinicians, researchers and patients. This is the result of more than a decade of campaigning by our community. Your voices have been heard and real change is happening.
