A window of learning heading into the qualifiers. Two draws, no wins but the unbeaten streak extended to four games for the first time since 2016. A positive result and performance at home to Senegal and then a disappointing display against Luxembourg but one that Heimir Hallgrímsson will learn a lot from. Debuts for O’Leary, Phillips and John Patrick with Kasey McAteer establishing himself as a big player for Ireland. A partnership built between Knight and Smallbone with Jack Taylor showing how crucial he could be whether that’s starting or coming off the bench. The second half of 2025 will be a massive end to the year for the national team with the June internationals being a window that everyone will learn a lot from. Back the manager, back this group of players. Big things are coming.
