I can’t believe, in 31 years, I never came across this book. It’s a shame. It has timeless wisdom!
Moreover, it’s an easy read. Good books which don’t have just one central idea stretched into 200 pages are rare.

Candidates prep requires a team, massive resources and above all a lot of time.
Winning the Candidates, it appears, requires more than that, I don't know.
Beating the Candidates winner in blitz requires 10 mins of prep.
10 mins of prep is best spent with my ChessMonitor app.

We are sending our kids to school to memorize facts that AI can retrieve in 0.3 seconds.
We're grading them on essays that AI writes better than their teachers.
We're preparing them for jobs that won't exist by the time they graduate.
The entire education system is training humans to compete with machines at what machines do best.
That's not education. That's sabotage.
The schools that survive will teach thinking, not memorizing. Creating, not repeating. Discerning, not obeying.
Every other school is a museum that doesn't know it yet.

Four months. It’s hard to believe it’s been that long since we lost Danya. Some days it feels like a lifetime, and other days it feels like just yesterday.
My amazing colleague, Kelly Centrelli, put together this beautiful reel of photos of time spent together. Seeing these moments captured is a bittersweet reminder of the moments we shared together.

@JamesAFurey English teacher here. There's actually a pedagogical "sweet spot" that combines the encouragement to write from one's perspective (even research papers have an author's thesis) and needed correctness/formality.

I feel like someone needs to create a dating/meet-up app for this, where both parties start knowing what they’re looking for, b/c off the top of my head, I know 6 women who are in this exact same situation (7, including myself).

i know two guys who are considering having kids via surrogate bc they badly want children but haven’t been able to find partners to do it with. they’re both extremely successful and love kids. i dunno what’s going on with dating but i don’t think it’s just men being anti-commitment and women being too picky.

Ayer arranqué el día con un cliente a las 9.30 y terminé con otro a las 21.30. Ambos trabajos antieconómicos, es decir un montón de laburo y lo que se puede cobrar no lo justifica. Pero los dos necesitaban ayuda y uno presta un servicio. Estudié derecho precisamente para ayudar a la gente a poder defender lo que le corresponde y lo hice contento. Lógicamente no agarro casos así todos los días porque de algo hay que vivir, pero creo que no hay que perder el eje con lo que es la vocación. No es que yo sea ejemplo de nada, pero justo me pasó esto ayer después de subir el video sobre la falta de hospitalidad en restaurantes, y siento que se está perdiendo ese lado humano del servicio. Donde independientemente del dinero hay una satisfacción por resolverle una necesidad a otra persona. No vas a tener siempre clientes perfectos, a veces se te van a sentar 3 en la mesa de 4, a veces van a llegar sobre el cierre de la cocina. Pero en la medida de lo posible hay que tratar de no dejar a esa gente sin comer, porque el servicio es eso: esforzarte para que el otro esté mejor.
