What a weekend at this year's Middle Tennessee Strawberry Festival in Portland! It was great seeing so many familiar faces and meeting new ones. Six years ago today, Cumberland Connect flipped the switch on our very first service zone in Stewart County. We were the new kid on the block, and a lot of people weren't sure what to make of a local internet provider taking on the big guys. Fast forward to today, and over 45,000 subscribers trust Cumberland Connect as their internet provider. As your local cooperative, we are proud to have built a fiber network that is owned by CEMC members and exists to serve only CEMC members. Here's something we're proud of: the price you pay today is the same price we launched with six years ago. We've never played the intro rate games or "gotcha" increases after the first year. We simply promised our subscribers a consistent, flat rate for their internet service — and we've kept that promise! Since then, we haven't stopped building even though our fiber network buildout is complete. We launched our brand-new Outdoor Wi-Fi service this year, and we have more exciting developments coming down the pipeline. We want to keep our members informed about an ongoing service disruption in the Springfield area along Hwy 25 E. Earlier today, a semi-truck accident caused a power outage and damaged fiber infrastructure in the area. Our crews are currently on site making repairs. To complete the work safely, members connected to this fiber route will be taken out of service beginning around 2:30 PM today. Restoration is expected to take approximately 7-8 hours. We know this is disruptive, and we appreciate your patience while our team works to get everyone back online as quickly as possible. We are still experiencing an issue affecting calls to our main toll-free number. At this time, calls to many 1-800 numbers are failing when dialed from AT&T lines due to a broader network issue. This is not specific to CEMC/Cumberland Connect, and is a widespread issue.
