@WanderingAgain9 @BoringBiz_ In my state those houses simply dont exist anymore, and if they do they are riddled with black mold and falling apart, which no one my age could afford to fix, and even if its in an okay condition it's still half a mil when real jobs dont hire people out of college anymore.

I don't understand why a 2000-3000 sq ft house is considered a “starter home” these days. Our first home was just a smidge over 1,000 sq ft, 2 beds, 1 bath, and cost 33K. We worked our way up to larger homes over the course of 40 years. And yes, we would like to leave an asset to our children and grandchildren, if medical costs don’t force us to liquidate first. It’s an awful situation for many people.
