Baptism cleanses us from original sin(inherited sins from Adam and Eve) and makes us one with the church. Children should be baptised as soon as they are born. Everything the Catholic Church does is scriptural and even more. Infant baptism can be found Acts 2:39; Col 2:11-12 just in case you have any doubt about it.
