One lesson I learnt this year is that if you’re too nice, people will use you. People are always wanting to take advantage of you the moment they notice you’re a nice person, it’s you that needs to change it for them, learn how to say NO, and learn to put yourself first always.

God is so amazing, it’s marvellous to look back and realise there’s nothing I’ve needed that God hasn’t provided, even when I thought I wouldn’t make it, I did. There’s absolutely no reason to doubt, when God is behind you, believe it, There’s nothing in life that you CANT do.

We buried our mum in the village last weekend, it was the hardest thing I've had to do in my adult life. These are the lessons from my experience 1.The finality of death hurts so much. it will break any kind of will power you have in you 2.Culture or tradition is hostile to people grieving 3.There might be some good people in the church, but the church as a body is a business and will always prioritize business. 4. Life never gives you enough time. No matter what you have accomplished in your lifetime there would always be regrets 5.If your mother is alive now pay attention to every single word she tells you and don't blow it off like she's some old woman complaining... Finally 6.I've always wondered why The bond between mother and son is so strong. I realize now that it stems from knowing that she will give her life Inplace of yours in a heart beat and no matter how wretched you are or how broken you are, you will always be her son. There's no one to call me "My Son" anymore. No tears! None.

Your potential, the absolute best you’re capable of—that’s the metric to measure yourself against. Your standards are. Winning is not enough. People can get lucky and win. People can be assholes and win. Anyone can win. But not everyone is the best possible version of themselves.

I remind myself daily that I do not own their lives or future. That I am merely given the task of helping them find their own ways in this world. I am to help them create order in this chaotic world until they have the tools and ability to do so themselves... and that I must be cautious not to be forceful in the indoctrination of my own ways in the process as this may stifle their ability to find their own ways and truths. As their first teacher, I am the first to give examples that will guide them. That tribulations and trials are a part of the cycle of life and learning; and they must learn to overcome them to build capacity, wisdom, and strength. The things they would need to be their own men and protect their own homes. I am reminded that no matter how much I say, what I do is what matters the most. In due time, they'd find their own way, and when that time comes, I will trust that I gave my absolute best to them and all who will come after them. I do have a lot to give to the world. However, the best of me is the least I can give my family. The rest of me is for the rest of the world. Husband... Father... then everything else!

It's depressing to see our parents getting old while we are still struggling to be stable in life. The guilt feeling is strong when we still can't afford the things our parents want or when we are unable to spend time with them since we are so busy with this thing called life.
