Lessons for European defence here. Those familiar with #FCAS know what a disaster it has been for years now - chiefly because of France. France insisted on naval capability and Dassault as true design authority and refused to budge one inch from its unacceptable demands. The loudest voices in the room calling for 'European' defence are almost always French, but what they actually mean is replacing American firms with French firms and forming all rules, tenders, procedures and requirements around French needs. This is why European defence is dead in the water. It's a thinly veiled smokescreen for French ambition, and it won't go anywhere until it isn't.
