In 24 hours, the war in the Middle East has driven gas prices up 20% and pushed oil prices higher again.
Families are paying the price for this illegal war.
It is unfair and unsustainable for people who are already struggling with the cost of living crisis.
Today, our Finance Minister John O’Dowd met and again urged the British government to put proper support in place for workers and families.

I have been pressing the Communities Minister to set up a financial support scheme to get the £17 million support out to hard pressed families.
At today’s Committee, there was cross party agreement for officials to provide a timeframe to get this money into peoples pockets.

It’s not just unpopular, @ArleneFosterUK, it’s morally wrong.
The UK Gov is slashing welfare for disabled people and stripping away support to get into work. NI still has no Disability Strategy to protect our rights.
Cutting welfare to bankroll unethical wars is disgraceful.

“I absolutely think we need to tackle the welfare budget so we can put more money into defence.” Former First Minister of Northern Ireland Arlene Foster makes the case for increased funding to “ramp up defence spending.” #Newsnight

This state was designed so a nationalist could never hold the office of First Minister.
History changed in 2024 when Michelle O’Neill became First Minister.
The SDLP proposal today to abolish the First Minister title brings them alongside some of the most extreme voices in loyalism and unionism, who want to ensure no nationalist holds the position again.
Incredible!

Disgusting interview with @gordonlyons1 on @StephenNolan today. During the interview the Minister showed himself ignorant of Disabled people and how the social security system works. The interview seems designed to create fear and sow division. Short thread to correct the record.
