.@NESpower’s lack of a strategic disaster relief plan, pro-tree canopy policy and being more concerned about a DEI contract renewal - all of which jeopardized public safety - requires executive management to be fired and the board to be replaced. In contrast, our rural electric cooperatives focused on the customer, was much more prepared, had more lineman and showed exactly how to work to effectively and efficiently to restore power. The General Assembly will explore every option available with the stance NES cannot stay the same. NES failed not some customers, but all. @freddieoconnell @VoteMarsha @mattmurphyshow @DanMandisShow @MichealLeahyp44

.@NESpower was so focused on woke policies and DEI that it failed at its most basic responsibility: keeping the power on. Despite ample warning, its failure to adequately prepare left thousands in the dark—it’s time for new leadership at NES.

🚨 LETTER TO TN GENERAL ASSEMBLY Over 20,000 people in metropolitan Nashville are without power. Many of these people are in my Congressional district and experienced NO relief from the Nashville Electric Service. I am asking the TN General Assembly to do four things. 1. Take direct oversight of NES 2. Dissolve the current board 3. Create a new accountable governance structure 4. Audit NES completely, including spending, leadership, and emergency prep Last Wednesday, NES approved a contract for DEI trainings while 90,000 of their clients were out of power. In 2024, NES cut $7 million from their tree trimming budget to fund over 100 DEI training courses. Newsflash: Nashville Mayor Freddie O’Connell is in charge of appointing every member of the NES board. He’s culpable and shielding NES from any accountability. This MUST change.

NES FAILED their own audit, showing they were not prepared to remove falling trees. Mayor Freddie O'Connell should be calling for the removal of the WHOLE NES board for letting Nashville freeze over. Too late. I am urging the General Assembly to take control of the situation and fix NES.
