The reason why Ren and Stimpy was so good was because of both John K and Bob Camp. They really brought the best out of each other's work. If you need proof of this, look no further than both the Games Era and APC .

Kricfalusi is the same guy that wanted Big House Blues to be animated like an early H-B cartoon until Bob Jaques got him to realize why that idea would've nuked whatever vitality the show might've had. His own intuition after a certain level is faulty.

Why did John care so much about Jimmy? George Liquor had the most potential to become a successful show. If it was picked up by FOX he would’ve been up there with Family Guy and The Simpsons. But all we are left with is not a can pee in.

@sambarigeist Freleng was a genius because his cartoons never took risks yet many of them are some of the best cartoons ever produced. Almost all of his mid to late 40's Bugs Bunny cartoons are classics

@Gilition Freleng was so much of a genius that he would do good to great cartoons with a small budget (smaller than Jones fr). Mckimson struggled with that, mainly after 1953

I'd argue that Freleng wasn't an innovator (he followed in the footsteps of those who innovated) but he was still a genius since he was a master at his craft.

Since this has blown up I would like to repeat a story I've told previously about my friend, @RetroToonLover. She used to be a firm believer that Chuck Jones is overrated. But then I showed her Duck Amuck for the first time, and since then she considers it her favorite cartoon.
