I found historical sights of #Winchester nicely spread out on a city plan. Everything is in a walking distance from the High street, even the remains of the castle and the Great Hall.
City's market cross is still in the High Street as well as some Tudor houses and quite a lot of remains of medieval buildings.
Westgate is one of 2 preserved Roman gateways into town (the other is Kingsgate). It houses a small museum inside just like our Westgate in Canterbury.
There was also a strong Jewish population in the town in the 13th century, today marked with the sculpture of businesswoman Licoricia and her son Asher.

We reached the Hospital of St Cross and Almshouse of Noble Poverty via short walk by the river from the town.
Founded as a charity providing for 13 poor "Brothers" by Henri de Blois, Bishop of #Winchester, in the 12th century. Still today accommodation and food is provided for the most needy ones.
Fine Norman chapel dates from the same time and it really is full of zig-zag patterns on the walls and on the vaults which look quite amazing,
We even heard where the hearth stood in the middle hall of one of the transepts.
The court is a feast for the eyes as well as the secluded garden with a pond.

History remembers The Night of the Big Wind which caused havoc, property damage, uproot trees, shipwrecks and life-loss across entire UK.
Anne Lister adds to the account.
7th January 1839
"appallingly windy night — I rocked in my bed"
"many panes of glass broken in the windows to the west, and several panes in the dome — and several slates blown off and the north west corner of the house slating much injured as also the west side of the barn roof"
"— a large old Elm uprooted in the paddocks and a large old ash uprooted at Lidgate"
"had called in ‘Dr. Tucker’ who lives in Broad Street who had put 20 leeches on Joseph’s side (a rib broken) and set his broken finger — he was blown twice off his feet and had near been blown over the parapet wall of the arch over the Godley road near the top of the new bank — "
"much damage done in H-x [Halifax] — ... a man and his wife and child sleeping in one bed killed by the falling of a chimney in Pellon Lane"

Hi @grok has Iran shown any public or private signs of complying with the Strait of Hormuz reopening by Tuesday, April 7 at 8:00 P.M. ET?
What exactly did Trump post on Truth Social today? (The full wording, especially any profanity or specific threats like "Power Plant Day" or "all hell will reign down.")
Why was the deadline shifted or emphasized again today has there been a new development in talks, a provocation, or is this just ramping up pressure?
What's the current status of the Strait of Hormuz? How restricted is shipping right now, and what impact is it having on global oil prices/LNG?
How does this tie into the ongoing U.S.-Iran war, the missing U.S. pilot, and reports of strikes near Iran's nuclear sites (like Bushehr)?
If Iran doesn't comply, what are the most likely U.S. actions on Tuesday targeted strikes on power plants/bridges, or something broader? Any legal/international concerns (e.g., attacks on civilian infrastructure)?
