The SAVE America Act is about proof of citizenship to register to vote and using a Photo ID when you do so. Why are Chuck Schumer and Democrats AGAINST this common sense measure? Because they want illegal aliens to vote in our elections.

24th September 1831 "came in at the bottom of High Street walked to the top of it and through the gate — market day — picturesque nice town — went into shop near the gate and bought of the college emblematic servant — the man intelligent had some prints to sell 6 nos. [numbers] views of Winchester [margin text:] bells to the horses in Winchester [page 15] 18/. the work — a sort of builder said his architectural taste made him rejoice the organ was so placed in the cathedral but the dean had had a sharp contention about it — but as the late Lord Liverpool said why build a fine room and keep the windows always shut — gothic cross in high street very picturesque — and some portico like rows at Chester — off from Winchester at 1 40/.." #AnneLister 's Travel Journal I found historical sights of #Winchester nicely spread out on a city plan. Everything is in a walking distance from the High street, even the remains of the castle and the Great Hall. City's market cross is still in the High Street as well as some Tudor houses and quite a lot of remains of medieval buildings. Westgate is one of 2 preserved Roman gateways into town (the other is Kingsgate). It houses a small museum inside just like our Westgate in Canterbury. There was also a strong Jewish population in the town in the 13th century, today marked with the sculpture of businesswoman Licoricia and her son Asher. #Winchester #medieval #marketcross #Romans #Jews

24th September 1831 "in 10 minutes at St. Croix — pretty chapel — Saxon — founded 1129 by Henry de Blois brother of King Stephen — added to by Cardinal Beaufort who built the hall in 1446 — Lord Guildford master — 13 pensioners — wear a gown and white cross — now allowed to have their wives — 4 meat dinners a week — runs about 8 lb. of meat each a day — and a gallon of mead and 3 quarts of beer a day — give away daily 2 loaves of bread of 21 oz. each and 8 quarts of beer to all poor tradespeople gipsies and beggars very pretty Saxon chapel — (the porter distributes ad libitum) — regular Greek cross — Saxon — much dogtooth bordering — picture by Albert Durer a Benediction by Simeon — St Catherine and Agonis on the doors of the picture — square hearth in middle of hall — where fire on the 5 gala days about 2 miles round hoop for fender — 25 minutes there brew 9 gallons to the bushel and 80 [page 16] hogsheads a year — very weak beer — very pretty neat quadrangular court each has an apartment and garden — the clergyman lives in the court — has about £80 a year but does other duty — the porter 1 of the brothers shewed us round the village of St. Croix neat small tolerably good village —" #AnneLister 's Travel journal We reached the Hospital of St Cross and Almshouse of Noble Poverty via short walk by the river from the town. Founded as a charity providing for 13 poor "Brothers" by Henri de Blois, Bishop of #Winchester, in the 12th century. Still today accommodation and food is provided for the most needy ones. Fine Norman chapel dates from the same time and it really is full of zig-zag patterns on the walls and on the vaults which look quite amazing, We even heard where the hearth stood in the middle hall of one of the transepts. The court is a feast for the eyes as well as the secluded garden with a pond. #Winchester #almshouses #medieval #chapel hospitalofstcross.co.uk

History remembers The Night of the Big Wind which caused havoc, property damage, uproot trees, shipwrecks and life-loss across entire UK. Anne Lister adds to the account. 7th January 1839 "appallingly windy night — I rocked in my bed" "many panes of glass broken in the windows to the west, and several panes in the dome — and several slates blown off and the north west corner of the house slating much injured as also the west side of the barn roof" "— a large old Elm uprooted in the paddocks and a large old ash uprooted at Lidgate" "had called in ‘Dr. Tucker’ who lives in Broad Street who had put 20 leeches on Joseph’s side (a rib broken) and set his broken finger — he was blown twice off his feet and had near been blown over the parapet wall of the arch over the Godley road near the top of the new bank — " "much damage done in H-x [Halifax] — ... a man and his wife and child sleeping in one bed killed by the falling of a chimney in Pellon Lane" Credits: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Night_of_… #AnneLister #ShibdenHall #Halifax

Hi @grok has Iran shown any public or private signs of complying with the Strait of Hormuz reopening by Tuesday, April 7 at 8:00 P.M. ET? What exactly did Trump post on Truth Social today? (The full wording, especially any profanity or specific threats like "Power Plant Day" or "all hell will reign down.") Why was the deadline shifted or emphasized again today has there been a new development in talks, a provocation, or is this just ramping up pressure? What's the current status of the Strait of Hormuz? How restricted is shipping right now, and what impact is it having on global oil prices/LNG? How does this tie into the ongoing U.S.-Iran war, the missing U.S. pilot, and reports of strikes near Iran's nuclear sites (like Bushehr)? If Iran doesn't comply, what are the most likely U.S. actions on Tuesday targeted strikes on power plants/bridges, or something broader? Any legal/international concerns (e.g., attacks on civilian infrastructure)?
