Let me come in a little. I don’t believe anyone is a failure until they admit themselves that they are failures, and that’s because success begins from the mind. Honestly, maybe the wife got pregnant before the wedding allegedly, else I really don’t know the rush behind this. But let’s assume she didn’t, which simply means no matter how bad this situation is because it’s really so bad (I mean taking care of yourself alone as an adult on that will be so difficult how much more two persons). So back to my gist, no matter how bad this situation is I still think they can plan better for the future, not on his 35k salary now but on trying to get better opportunities. As long as one has shelter and what to eat, no matter how little they can always plan for the future.
