Unlike some gender-crits, I'm fully for treating trans people as their identified gender as long as it's based on more than self-ID & does not include situations where anatomy/physiology are relevant. But if you're pregnant I'm not going to call you a man, sorry

Most liberals aren't radicals and just believe trans folk deserve to live their lives in peace. But activists insist you must never even imply that a trans man is a woman, so the Chancellor must hedge and say the "vast majority of pregnancies are in women." And to non-liberals, that can't help but sound odd. My experience in private conversations is that many liberals think it's odd as well, but others blame it all on "Republican cynicism" and argue it shouldn't even be an issue. Perhaps it shouldn't, but it is. And Republicans will keep on bringing it up in hearings as long as they think it'll get them votes.
