The odds to influence a generation are stuck in favor of those who talk to young people everyday....@BwanikaCharles

As we approach another work break, our #LifeSkillsandValues weekend series continues with a focus on creativity and innovation-the ability to generate, express, and refine ideas into original, useful solutions. How do we support acquisition of these #LifeSkills? Nurturing them involves giving children and young people room to imagine, ask, try, create, and learn from mistakes.

Creating safe spaces for girls to learn about menstruation is a powerful thing to do. With support from @AFRIpads we provided reusable pads to girls as tools to manage periods beyond equipping them with only knowledge to nurture strong and informed girls.

𝐃.𝐄.𝐀.𝐑 𝐃𝐚𝐲 𝐚𝐭 𝐌𝐨𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐫 𝐏𝐫𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥, 𝐖𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐬𝐨. This week, our Chapters of Change #BookClub through it’s community engagement initiative organized a reading experience with learners at Morning Star Primary School in the spirit of Drop Everything And Read (DEAR). One lesson stood out clearly - when children are given space to read, imagine, and learn together, they begin to see knowledge as an opening to opportunity and confidence. We are grateful to @RctWakiso for the generous book donation to the school that will continue to nourish the learners’ reading journey - 200 books were handed over by the club President to the school administration. Together with our partners, @Little_Feza @WomensHubUganda, @ReadtoLearn01 and @Node_Group who made the day memorable for the learners blending reading, financial literacy, and shared learning into one powerful message - Literacy for all. #HappyDEARDay

In 2025, we at @UwezoUganda together with partners, implemented dialogue sessions for 10 weeks that focused on raising parental awareness, building their capacity, and fostering school-community collaboration to support children and young people in the problem-solving life skill. Today, we ask: How do you normally deal with curious questions from children? To read more about this parental engagement drive, please access the report through this link: tinyurl.com/4pf5k45z OR scan the poster QR Code⬇️.

Did you know that 56.7% of Ugandan youth aged 14–20 are at Literacy Pre-Level 1; meaning they struggle to correctly interpret common workplace signs and symbols like "danger" or "help when injured"? At first glance, numeracy outcomes appear more encouraging, with 73.2% reaching Numeracy Level 1, where they can recognize basic shapes and numbers. Yet despite achieving this foundational level, most still cannot apply these skills to everyday situations involving time, money, or quantities. We must ask ourselves: why do nearly nine in ten (86%) remain below Numeracy Level 2, unable to confidently handle routine tasks, despite spending years in school? This gap between classroom learning and practical competence doesn't just limit job opportunities but it also affects everyday decisions, personal safety, and productivity. If schooling isn't translating into real-world ability, what does that mean for Uganda's future workforce?
