@themetalvoice One or two decent tracks at most. Herman Rarebell saw the writing on the wall beforehand and split. All Klaus wanted was pitiful ballads.
@EddieTrunk By releasing almost half the album as singles before the album comes out, the remainder of the album might as well be an EP. Especially given the bugger-all physical sales.
I will never understand in this age of ultra short attention spans why artists / labels promote and start press for new albums many months before people can actually buy the product. Making the day people can actually get the album an afterthought. Often resulting in the album gone after its first week. Half the album is usually released as singles already, all the press happened, actual release becomes a non event.

@mitchlafon Sounds like the book ignores the Van Halen history after David Lee Roth departed in 1985 as per Alex's previous book.
I would be happy with that. 😀

From the brothers’ arrival in California from Holland in 1962 to backyard parties in Pasadena, their 1978 debut album and the chart-topping success of 1984, the band’s story is told through an extraordinary collection of correspondence, tour memorabilia, album artwork, press material, musical equipment, unpublished photographs and much more.
Featuring photography from the band’s early years on the Sunset Strip, their first tours to Japan in 1978, and landmark performances including the US Festival in 1983 and 1984’s Monsters of Rock, VAN HALEN brings together rare archival material alongside the work of celebrated photographers.”

On this day in 1976, Aerosmith unleashed Rocks — one of the nastiest, tightest hard rock albums ever put on wax 🔥
Stacked with killers like “Back in the Saddle” and “Last Child,” the record pushed Aerosmith to another level, landing three singles on the Billboard Hot 100 and going platinum fast (eventually 4× platinum in the U.S.).
