The second Lofoten #SWOT glider mission is off! Yesterday Daniel Koestner deployed a Seaglider from RV Johan Hjort near the Lofoten eddy centre. The glider is now cruising in water currents over half a meter per second @UiBmatnat @Geofysen @SWOT_AdAC

@GlidersNor i love the use of a non magnetic tree we have used that technique in Australia as well except we have to put the glider upside-down in the trolley because we are in the southern hemisphere

When the conductivity cells on the SBE37 and SeaGlider wont agree so you need to put the extended slocum in the tank to settle the dispute #GliderDrama

Fram strait glider Skuld just hit the 1300km mark! We usually expect our endurance gliders to last well over a year on deployment but because of the strong currents, numerous eddies and sea ice hazards in Fram Strait we'll consider it a success if Skuld makes 300 days 🥳🐬
