@SandyHorne61 that's gotta be giving the pelican a run for its money in the "beak to bird ratio" department.

Enough sun falls on the roof of the average suburban house in Australia to supply a surplus to their daily electricity needs enough surplus to power their daily drive as well

@renew_economy LNG is worse than coal because of the fugitive emissions.. But the bad news is that new observations indicate that Coal is worse than Coal because of under reported fugitive methane emissions explore aerial shots of the source of high ch4 emissions openmethane.org/map

@CharlieJGardner I'm biased but. SUGARCANE (and other c4 plants) are fantastic at capturing atmospheric CO2 Sugar cane processing is already done on an industrialised scale and capturing in the order of a GT CO2 annually. its just that the way we currently practice it we rerelease it all

This tweet is not actually advocating for planting trees. Here's two things that are much better than that: - stopping existing forests being cut down - letting forests grow back through natural regeneration

@ChristineMilne @AlboMP Unfortunately Government generated "offsets", largely from the SE states, are USED in WA & QLD to greenwash gas expansion ie: It's not that, WA & QLD letting the team down, it's that much of the teams "progress" is vacuous fake offsets created as greenwash for the FF industry

Woodside Australia WA perfect example of state capture. Look no further for an explanation re why @AlboMP refuses #ClimateTrigger, #Dutton loves nuclear and emissions are rising. Looks like Twiggy is on his own amongst miners. An ad campaign 2010 style in marginals??? #auspol 🧵

“… climate pollution in the five eastern states fell by at least 27% between 2005 and 2022 while rising 8% in WA” WA is holding back Australia on climate action. theguardian.com/australia-news…

@simonahac @GilesParkinson there's already been talk amongst ex WestWind employees (of which i am one) of buying it & retrofitting with modern equipment to extend its life. out of respect late Geoff Hill , who ran westwind & was the most visionary man who just got on with it despite a coal obsessed govt

after 37 years, the breamlea wind turbine is to be retired. the 60kW turbine, manufactured in perth, was the oldest grid connected turbine in 🇦🇺. for context, goldwind's new 8MW turbines are 133x more powerful & will generate >300x the energy annually. reneweconomy.com.au/australias-old…

@simonahac @GilesParkinson It lasted nearly twice its design life and is only being replaced because they can no longer source parts it could do another 20Y in reality wind turbines get replaced because they become obsolete and the site is worth more than the turbine

@JaneCaro @simonahac @steveHPerthWA for example the last 24H in SA Wind and solar provided >100% of the Required generation ALL day & ALL night (well there was a tiny blip of positive gas supply around 8pm but <<1% of the day) & that could have been supplied from batteries/ imports if the gas wasn't there anyway

@DoctorKarl my feeling, as a old guy RE engineer from the day when we killed-it your car will have its own electricity account (independent of where it is plugged in) You also have an electricity account (perhaps attached to home solar) you trade electricity real time between devices

@Object_Zero_ The electronic design solution is the default solution these days even it harsh environments where these systems perform poorly. Not these passive solar trackers they use differential heating to force refrigerant between cylinders on either side of the array.

This engine is the greatest rocket engine ever built, BECAUSE they got rid of all the electronics and software. Fluid management system? Nope. The shape of the pipes is the fluid management. All of Mech Eng is full of similar opportunities.

When it comes to electric vehicle and plug-in markets, China is not just bigger than the next guy... ...China is bigger than everyone else on the planet combined. There's more: China will continue to be the runaway leader in production and supply of EVs to global markets for years to come. Great chart tells the story. H/T @BloombergNEF
