The Virginia margin wasn't huge. But this reflects a remarkable degree of partisan coordination. And frankly rational behavior by Democrats under the circumstances. Almost perfectly aligned to 2024.

Court struck it down as being partisan (attempt failed but why pretend it didn’t happen?). Then the IRC proposed new maps in Feb. 2024 & legislate rejected & drew its own again

And then after seeing Indiana say they’re not going to redistrict in 2025, Maryland tried again before abandoning due to legal issues. NC was 2024

Ohio gained 2 R in 2025. Indiana said no in 2025 but Maryland tried again lol. Be honest. This is way more than “Trump”

@NateSilver538 What was the rational behavior? The basis was “Trump did Texas” but ignored that NY redistricted first, and then Maryland tried and failed. And even if the response was supposed to be to Texas (as framed in all the ads) CA already answered with a redistrict of 5 of its own.

This court already tried to block it and the VA Supreme Court overruled him and allowed the referendum.
Now we await the VA Supreme Court's final decision. The court is pretty moderate, arguably even somewhat right-leaning.

BREAKING: A Republican-appointed Virginia judge has struck down the Democratic-backed redistricting amendment in full, ruling it unconstitutional and “void from the start.” All votes from the April 21 special election are now invalid, and the state is permanently blocked from using or implementing the new maps. Voter turnout is still unbelievably high in the Hungarian elections. Turnout was 37,98% at 11am - compared to 25,77% four years ago. Probably heading towards a new record. Interestingly, voters are most active in countryside towns.
