During #ICANN84 Global Partners Digital and the @theGNI brought together stakeholders from across the Internet governance ecosystem to deepen understanding of the WSIS+20 Review and build alignment around shared priorities. The Global Digital Rights Coalition for WSIS (GDRC-WSIS), the Global Digital Justice Forum and independent civil society groups have published a joint statement, calling for a WSIS+20 outcome which reaffirms the need for human rights-based digital governance and the full integration of human rights in all aspects of the implementation of the WSIS Action Lines. 📝 Over the weekend, States met in Hanoi at the signing ceremony of the UN Cybercrime Convention. Over 60 signed the Convention with more expected to do the same in the coming weeks, exceeding the threshold required for the Convention to enter into force. Ahead of the ceremony, GPD joined 18 other civil society groups to urge States to refrain from signing and ratifying the treaty and to highlight the importance of safeguarding human rights. Together, we call on all States to clarify how they intend to work towards rights-respecting rights implementation.
