@mikemattos65 Light's Retention Scale is great for this. The amount of research poured into it was very eye-opening to me. I learned a lot just reading the research section of the administration manual. Being a struggling student is contraindicated as a reason for retention... as you said.

If you are considering retention for struggling students, I implore you to study the research and evidence. Hattie’s meta-analysis on retention found it has a profoundly negative impact. If your school/district has retained students in the past, did it work? #do_no_harm #atplc
