US Space Force now catalogued a total of 10 objects in orbit associated with yesterday's classified Soyuz launch. The last four payloads were seemingly released from the Volga space tug after its propellant-hungry inclination-changing maneuver. CONTEXT: russianspaceweb.com/spacecraft-mil…

@DayDreamer15k @LIM49Spartan Abakan(98R6E) is affordable light footprint export ABM, S-500(55R6M) is S-500 (domestic heavy system of systems). The only thing they share is multifunctional 98L6(e) radar, it is only optional/intermediate for S-500 system (it has its own ones). TEL on photo is not shared.

@Nion0707 The HHQ-9C is, by all indications, more of an analogue to the American PAC-3 & PAC-3 MSE. I would argue that against "mass-produced" PrSM, especially as an ASBM, there may be a case for a lower-end naval BMD interceptor, but that is a topic for another day x.com/shahpas/status…
Shahryar Pasandideh@shahpas

@spleenpatriot The HQ-19 is massive and is optimized for use against a different set of ballistic threats in high-altitude intercepts. It should be viewed in the vein of the American MIM-401/THAAD, not the American PAC-3 or PAC-3 MSE.

🇨🇳🇺🇸 Even if we assume that the Chinese HQ-19 ballistic missile defence interceptor can be launched from the GJB 5860-2006 standard VLS ("UVLS") on the PLAN's Type 052D-class and Type 055-class destroyers, the HQ-19 is not optimized for use against the likes of the new American PrSM ballistic missile, a later variant of which will have an anti-ship mode/function as an anti-ship ballistic missile (ASBM). A naval HQ-19 will undoubtedly have its uses, but the PLAN will have to rely on other surface-to-air missile designs, such as the HQ-9C, to protect its warships and the vessels that PLAN warships escort. It is important to consider how the PrSM will likely be a true "mass-produced" ballistic missile design. The PrSM is limited to a quite modest payload, but PrSM salvos launched from the Philippines and Japan, and perhaps even Taiwan, will pose a major threat to Chinese surface ships. Note that the maximum range of the PrSM design is set to significantly increase in later "increments."

Being wrong never felt so good ;)) 055 is literally the Perfect DDG HQ19 Interceptors (6.7m x 0.66m) can already be used in HT-1 UVLS on board the 052D/055 which are 9m/7m/3.3m in length and 0.85m in dia for Ballistic Missile Defence apart from hhq9c

@Hurin92 @mhmiranusa Check place and what happened there before the war. It's a remote corner of Iran with significant transborder insurgency. Deploying manpads there risks them getting captured. Big risk for both Iran and Pakistan

@mhmiranusa Any idea why haven't we seen more manpads despite their earlier claims of having 1000s ? Seriously puzzled here

This is the clearest footage the US Navy F/A-18 which was targeted today near the Iranian city of Chabahar. I think it was a near miss and a MANPAD shot.

@MatejRisko Tbh Baluchistan and parts of Hormozgan at least make practical sense. But that's land war at scale, and stereotypical slide into decades of 'victory is right over that ridge'.

@DAlperovitch It could've for decades, but for most part it did and does the opposite in its military buildip, assuming US is the saving ticket. I.e. it is pointless, polar opposite approach more akin to that gulf did.

Taiwan needs to be taking careful notes right now about how relatively easy it is to shut down a small waterway vital to the commerce of an adversary that desires to attack you, and to gain great leverage while doing so…

@MatejRisko @FRHoffmann1 Tbf, until US are responsible for defending gulf nations, I don't think S/A intercept rates and logic are politically acceptable. Fighting to the last interceptor is one thing, chosing what to intercept when it heads toward a protected nation is completely different optics.

@Pataramesh None of those. This is not a kind of hit where you survive 60kg class warhead. Majid or smaller Sevom Khordad missile?

Which surface-to-air missile system did Iran use to target & damage the 🇺🇸 F-35 'Stealth' fighter? Candidates: - 3rd Khordad - Tabas - Raad ➡️ In the next tweets below, I provide my videos detailing each of these systems potentially responsible (Unlikely to be the last...)
Patarames@Pataramesh

The inevitable happend Such heavy damage on a F-35 unlikely to allow for controlled landing. Hence it was likely near the border regions that its Pilot was not captured... ➡️ Lockheed Martin, Stealth TM

@notyassine900 Price of being universal (Air breathers + respectable ABM footprint). For more normal performance, S-500 absolutely runs 51P6 too. It isn't tied to huge 77xx interceptors.

@MatejRisko Can't help but wonder if same weapon with more accuracy/effects / somewhat more range would've managed to save Iran from where it ended up in the first place. Large parts of war v Iran rely on military inefficiency of this specific capability.

@defencewithac It always was their "model theater" indeed. But threat profile evolved since their inception; and though both the navy and industry did react to that, nothing was financed. The only factual positive change for the class was addition of NSMs, which is ~irrelevant for Gulf.

If only the US had a ship that was optimised for operations below the threshold of fleet action, like a smaller, faster, more agile vessel, with armament suited for combating other small craft, along with flexible mission bays. A ship dedicated to combat in littoral regions.

Iran mining the Straight, more than the UAS threat, has been the scenario that the United States & allies have been the least prepared for. The entire US Navy only has 4 minesweepers.

@MatejRisko Tbf, Iran had more medium/long range ADs (maybe still has?) than it had proper SHORADs. Not like they hit anything, but as a matter of principle, reach wasn't their problem.
