I’ve been called racist and islamophobic hundreds of times today for outlining Restore Britain’s policy on banning halal slaughter, the burqa, sharia law, cousin marriage and plenty more. I want to be really clear about our party’s official response. We do not give a shit.

@ScottRCarpenter This is a true statement. Likewise, Trump has zero intention of forcibly taking Greenland or absorbing Canada. He is making extreme proposals to create an anchor effect that renders all forthcoming offers seem more reasonable.

It’s difficult to get Canadians to understand how Trump negotiates and what our position is relative to the US when it comes to trade so let me simplify it for everyone. Trump doesn’t care if a deal causes him or the US a small amount of discomfort if it crushes his opponent economically and gets them to negotiate in the manner he wants. He will literally cut off his own pinky finger if he thinks that your refusal to cooperate will cost you an arm and a leg in return. You can either respect the method and work with the operator on the other side or you can get ready to buy a prosthetic or two. That’s where we’re at.

Dear Europe, I know you feel outrage. I have talked to many of you on the phone. I know politicians and media on both sides of the Atlantic are furious. I attended a conference with mostly Europeans. The worry and frustration was palpable. I get it too. You are dependent on Middle East oil and aluminum and fertilizer and shipping and LNG. Dubai is a vital travel hub for you. Vital. But don’t worry. Trump will lose the midterms and Congress will flip and side with you. Or maybe not… I live in the bluest town in the bluest state, where protests are practically a seasonal sport. I drove over eight hours across New England this week past the usual corners where outrage normally lives. This time? Nothing. Left, right, center. I’m hearing almost no one talk about this war. MAGA doesn’t even care. Ask someone and you’ll get the expected talking points. But in coffee shops, kitchens, real life? Silence. Hard truth: most Americans just don’t care. And since the weather warmed, not a single keffiyeh in sight. So when Trump says you need to go protect the ships and airports that are vital to YOU, I think he means it. Because the vast majority of Americans don’t care. And it’s not that we want to see you spin into an energy and food shortage. It’s that even the most TDS-inflicted liberal American is getting tired of your BS. Hating Trump is one thing. Almost half of America is OK with that. But your anti-American vitriol and arrogance and weakness is exhausting. Nobody likes a needy person who is angry and thinks they are better than you. It’s literally the worst combination in a person. And you might not want to admit it, but you are needy. You need us to reopen Hormuz. You need our banks and our markets. You need a lot. “We will not participate in this war” is fine. Nobody is asking you to bomb civilians. What’s weak is you won’t surge defensive missiles and planes to protect European-owned ships and property. When exactly did defense make you a participant? Defense of innocent life and property isn’t a “war crime.” And you DO own the majority of ships getting attacked. Ships that you are unwilling to defend maybe because you outsource the labor to Indonesia, the Philippines, and Ukraine. You are the wealthy lords who abandoned the mansion but told the help to stick around and defend it. So you might want to send a few warships and missile defense units to protect YOUR property. Or at least leave them at anchor and send the innocent crews home. You want us to defend the Strait because we started this mess? That’s reasonable. Problem is the reaction from most of America to your demands is: ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

@FLjunghill @johnkonrad The left always has to end a post every fucking post, by insulting someone’s intelligence. It’s not even adolescent; we’re talking middle school. It signals the sad truth that when your an ideologue, explanations and arguments are not only not needed, they don’t even exist.

@johnkonrad The main issue and problem here isn't that Europe won't protect its shipping. The issue and problem is that Trump starts a war out of nowhere and then begs Europe to help clean up his mess. It has NOTHING to do with being anti-USA. It's about being anti-MORON.

This is the leader of Europe’s largest economy telling Trump: ‘You didn't ask us, you don't have a plan, and we are no longer following you into the dark.' Chancellor Friedrich Merz: "To this day, there is no convincing concept of how this operation could succeed. Washington did not consult us and deemed European assistance unnecessary. Ladies and gentlemen, we would have advised against pursuing this road the way it has been pursued at present. We do not want, dear colleagues, for this war to become a burden on the transatlantic partnership. We want this partnership, and we need it. That is why we are engaging in dialogue with Washington at all levels. In doing so, we are following what I stated a month ago at the Munich Security Conference: We are seeking transatlantic agreement. Therefore, I have always made it clear: We share important goals with the USA. But we must not, and will not, shy away from honestly telling our partners where we see things differently and where we have different interests. Such a partnership must withstand this, otherwise it is not a partnership, dear colleagues."

@GoCubsBears @yasminalombaert And what's in it for Europe? In the 1940s, they had no choice. By the early 2000s, there wasn't really much in it for Europe. NATO Art. 5 has been invoked only once. Want to guess which country invoked it?

What’s in it for Europe if NATO is strictly a tool of the U.S? The U.S. has bases all over the Middle East. It doesn’t need bases in Europe to project power elsewhere. You claim the U.S. is an empire. Empires have armed forces in nations to control and subjugate them, you know like Europe in the 16th through the mid 29the century. Are you suggesting that we subjugate and control the countries where we have base. I would submit that Europe would shit its pants if we pulled our troops tomorrow. Europe and Canada are like the entitled kids of a wealthy industrialist. They scream at their father about what an asshole he is while they take his money and benefit from his influence. BUT, you do make good points and quite frankly, we as a nation should have lived the warnings given by Washington and Eisenhower. We have become hopelessly entangled in affairs we should have avoided. Our government all too often no longer listens to the people or pursues the ideals set forth in our founding documents. I will never convince you of this because as soon as I write it you will label me far right. The entire range of my political beliefs do not fit into either party. I’ve voted Democrat several times. The totalitarian instincts in the U.S. do not come from the right, they come from the left as they do in Europe. They are propaganda machines that shut down speech through hard censorship but mostly through soft censorship. Calling anyone who disagrees with you a fascist, a racist, an Islamophobe, etc. has one purpose….to shut down honest debate, to shut down compromise and to gain power by telling everybody but white men that they are victims of oppression that can only be cured by purging those that disagree from discourse. That’s what I resent about the EU leaders, Starmer, Trudeau and others. I haven’t decided about Carney. If his statements and recent actions are performative, then ok but if he actually thinks Canada’s future is pivoting away from the U.S. he’s a fool. Trump can be a total jerk and a bully but he’s not the threat to western civilization that the progressive leftists in the west represent. I know this will piss you off. Sorry. Thank you for your thoughtful comments.

@GoCubsBears @yasminalombaert First, you're misunderstanding what NATO has been since 1990. Since 1990, NATO hasn't been about protecting Europe - it's about US force projection. US bases in Europe are there as staging areas for US force projection in Africa and the Middle East. And I deal with ...

That is a conversation that is no longer possible. False beliefs curated by bad actors, some in the U.S., some in Europe, pushing hopelessly flawed ideology and censoring all disagreement has destroyed the ability to discuss or debate just about any issue. I have the same thing against some European leaders, particularly EU leaders, as I have against the left in the U.S. The constant labeling of all dissent to their ideology as racist, sexist, etc. etc. is destroying the West. The vast majority of Americans are political centrists. They are not lousy people. But if that’s the way Europeans feel, why should we give a damn? Why? We don’t need NATO. We don’t need Mideast oil. We have no obligation to you. As a people we never wanted to be the world’s cops, especially when we get shit on for it. Americans are ready to cut our defense budget, bring our troops home and worry about our social programs, not yours.

Finland is the Happiest country in the World for the 9th year running. We also climbed up the world brand index from 7th to 5th. I am often asked why we do well in these rankings. I do not think there is a magic potion, but it helps to have a society which strives towards freedom, equality and justice. The basis of it all is a welfare society, a robust education system, a sense of security and a close attachment to nature. There is no such thing as a perfectly happy society, but providing some building blocks that give us a chance to live a meaningful life, to help others, will nudge us in the right direction during the journey of life.
