Dark pools have been a major part of TradFi for decades. No, I am not talking about swimming pools. In traditional finance, dark pools are private trading venues where buyers and sellers can match large orders away from the public exchange order books. Unlike lit markets where every order is visible to everyone, dark pools provide full anonymity. Trading intent stays completely hidden until the trade is executed. This prevents front running by other participants, greatly reduces market impact, and allows traders to move meaningful size with minimal slippage and improved execution prices. Traders of all sizes use dark pools when they need discretion combined with tight execution and real liquidity without broadcasting their moves to the entire market. Why is this not yet standard in crypto? It is coming.
