𝗢𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗙𝗿𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 This past Saturday, Team @STTAKenya proudly took part in the annual #ForestChallenge2025, hosted by the @eawildlife at Kereita Forest, Kiambu County. The challenge seeks to restore and regenerate key water towers such as the Aberdares and Mau. Our team's resilience and enthusiasm truly embodied the spirit of #GenerationRestoration. For the fourth consecutive year, STTA has sponsored both the event and our #STTAChangemakers to participate. The Forest Challenge aligns powerfully with our regeneration agenda, inspiring young people to understand the critical importance of restoring degraded ecosystems, the very foundations of a thriving tourism industry. Proud of the team, inspired by the energy, and committed to continuing the journey of restoration. #STTAConsultingAfrica #GenerationRestoration #STTAChangemakers #Sustainability #Regeneration #YoungLeaders #Restoration #Ecosystems #Forestchallenge2025 #Africa #YouthMentorship

𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴, 𝗥𝗲𝗳𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗥𝗲𝗶𝗺𝗮𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗧𝗼𝗴𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 On Friday evening, #sttachangemakers alumni and #sttarisingstars gathered at the Nairobi Garage, with others joining virtually, for the 1st YCM Alumni Meeting. It was a vibrant catch-up and a collaborative working session to co-create a framework for active, continuous engagement within the mentorship program. Since 2017, the Young Change Makers Program, through its recognition pillar, the STTA Rising Stars initiative, has graduated seven cohorts, many of whom are now leading impact and driving innovation across #sustainabletourism brands. Grateful for the ideas, insights, and renewed energy that will shape the next chapter of this community. #STTAConsultingAfrica #STTAChangemakers

Earlier this year, a speared tusker took us on a true Tsavo odyssey: it took a month and a hundred kilometres of tracking to find him, plus the coordinated efforts of multiple SWT teams, in order to treat him. In pursuit of alleviating wildlife suffering, our teams do not give up! The initial report came in late at night. Our pilot took off at first light to locate him, but he had evaporated into the wilderness. For the next two weeks, we extensively patrolled the area, but he was nowhere to be found – no small feat for huge elephant. We had a breakthrough a month later when another SWT/KWS Anti-Poaching Team spotted a bull with the same injury. Comparing photos of the two, we knew it had to be the same elephant. Incredibly, he had walked more than 95 kilometres (60 miles) from the initial sighting. Again, it was late in the evening, so we organised a treatment for the following morning. From there, we left nothing to chance. The SWT/KWS Mobile Vet Unit mobilised to the scene – and not a moment too soon. The wound was serious – more than 18 inches deep and dangerously infected. Watch the successful treatment unfold, one of 3,918 elephant cases our SWT/KWS Veterinary Units have attended thanks to donations, which make life-saving interventions like this possible. (Catch a full write up of the operation here: sheldrickwildlifetrust.org/news/updates/o… )

If access to our parks becomes costlier, we’ll see fewer visitors, fewer jobs, and less conservation funding. That’s not progress that’s regression. #AbolishKWSGatewayFees #FreeTheGate

CCF Hosts World Bank Delegation for an Early Morning Nature Walk at Karura Forest @CCF_Kenya, (CCF), Mr. Alex Lemarkoko, today, hosted a high-level delegation from the @WorldBank for an early morning nature walk through Karura Forest, Nairobi's most iconic urban green space. The delegation comprised Ms. Anna Wellenstein, Regional Practice Director for the Planet Department in the Eastern and Southern Africa Region; Mr. Pieter Waalewijn, Lead Water Specialist; Mr. Hisham Osman, Senior Environmental Engineer; and Mr. Dominick de Waal, Senior Economist. The CCF was accompanied by Ms. Susan Boit, who chairs the 15 Billion Tree Growing Programme Secretariat, and Dr. Winnie Musila, both from @Forestry__Kenya. The team was received at Amani Gardens before embarking on a 5-kilometre trail that meandered through some of Karura’s most scenic attractions including the tranquil waterfalls, lush bamboo groves, and serene forest trails before returning to Amani Gardens for a brief courtesy meeting with the CCF. Karura Forest stands as a symbol of Nairobi’s harmony between urban development and nature, offering residents and visitors a peaceful environment for recreation, ecotourism, and education, while playing a critical ecological role in air purification, carbon sequestration, and biodiversity conservation. The World Bank’s visit underscores the importance of global partnerships in advancing Kenya’s forest conservation and climate resilience agenda. The institution remains a key ally in financing restoration programmes, supporting community-led conservation, and strengthening sustainable forest management systems. By hosting the delegation at #Karura, the CCF reaffirmed the Kenya Forest Service’s commitment to collaboration, environmental stewardship, and the realization of Kenya’s ambitious 15 Billion Tree Growing Programme. The Regional Commandant – Nairobi and the CSO HQ - also joined the walk.
