I’m a USA homer. I admit it proudly. I went in with full positivity. But it’s time we talk about how atrocious Keegan Bradley did with his morning choices. He put the absolute worst matchup together. Literally. Morikawa/English was the 132nd best possible pairing for the USA. (See the top line above the photos.) And then he put Henley off on the odd holes with Scheffler, when all the data says that the shorter hitter should go on the even holes. Keegan didn’t just ignore data. He essentially decided to go completely against it. Contrast this to Europe, who basically just listened to the data and matched up according to the analytics. Then they put the long guys out on the odd holes. People tend to overrate captains, but I think we underrate how much damage they can do before the round starts. Our team was set up to fail before a ball was hit. Can we learn anything? Let’s hope! I believe!

The local driving range’s grass area opened for the season yesterday. In less than 6 hours, someone decided to be selfish and take divots almost 7 feet behind the boards (where there was plenty of grass left). Now this was in the member’s area where people pay for an annual membership to hit as many balls as they want. To do this on day one, let alone at the end of the season is unacceptable. This “hitting bay” is going to be trashed for a while now even when the boards get moved back. I bet this person doesn’t fix ball marks, fill divots, or rake bunkers on the course. Just no respect. #shrinkthegame
