Or that they can't have an oshi. There's more than just seeing them live and being able to do cheki with them. Like a lot stated interacting online, buying merch, seeing online live, etc. Is enough. Being a fan shouldn't be calculated on how much money you spend/how much you do

I've had to opportunity to see some chika idol group in my home country and most of my oshi become one because of the live. But not everyone has that luxury, or can travel to japan, or travel when the group is having a performance. It doesn't make them less of a fan....

I know calling people larpers and tourists is in right now but I lowkenuinely don’t get how people ‘oshi’ chika idols they’ve never seen in person. Like the appeal is I get to see them perform in some jank livehouse from 3 feet away and then take a cheki with them afterwards.

Saw a tweet about oshi’ing chika idols & how you shouldn’t do so unless you can support them IRL, & it kinda annoyed me lol Ppl don’t have the luxury to carve out time to travel to see their oshi’s. Most times being loud & supportive online is the only way they CAN show support

@sleepybunrin When it comes to kaigai idol, I usually follow them if I meet them. I'm from Canada and I've meet and seen 2 kaigai group from Canada and I now follow both of them. But I think for me it's more I'm so deep into J-idol content I barely see kaigai idol content even if I search

What is going on with the j-idol community online. Since when do we gatekeep groups, or get mad at new fan for not using the right terminology. When I started being a fan back in 2014, I didn't know any of the term like oshi, cheki, center, kisei, etc. Let's teach them instead.

@LoulouFoxgirl As a French canadian anytime someone ask what pronoun I use in French and if is use "iel" "ellui" I just responded "n'importe quel, mais pas iel ou ellui" which just made me start using any pronoun in an language.
