Going to take a Quick Look at what I would do with the Edmonton Oilers this offseason. Keep in mind, this isn’t meant to be completely realistic, but I didn’t want to be too outrageous, either. First, fire Kris Knoblauch. Bruce Cassidy is a good option for a replacement.

Leon and McDavid want the team to make big improvements and change. Bowman and Knoblauch sound like casual fools who think minimal changes are required. Can they be fired already? Stop waiting!

Subban saying Edmonton has never been that close to winning… They lost by one goal in Game 7 of the Stanley Cup final. You literally can’t get closer than that. Is it too much to ask that National broadcasters know basic facts about teams in the league?

I’d recommend watching Draisaitl’s entire press conference. People will use short clips to create an angle. Yes, he said he was concerned about them taking a step back, but then he went into detail about why he thought it happened and how they can be better. Very direct, homest and thoughtful responses from a leader. He doesn’t believe they are far away, but they (Mgmt, coaches and players) need to improve in some areas to get back in track. His response about the team maybe taking for granted how hard it is to win and what it takes, all season not just in the playoffs, stood out.
