My grades for this BYU Basketball season:
Staff: B
- Defensively this team was often a step behind rotations and missing assignments.
- Offensively, not much movement and always 1on1 dependent.
- Almost 1/3 of the season without the face of the program & And 2/3 of the season without the main 6th man is incredibly rough
- Kevin Young is obviously a master of the craft, the assistants obviously have a great reputation, along with Justin Young, a wizard of the returning game.
- Biggest offseason of the KYU era starts today.
RWII: B
A lot was expected of him, and he delivered a lot of times. However in the biggest stages/moments (Post Richie injury) his play didn’t elevate
Richie: A
One of one. Had some “bad” games but effort-wise, he never quit. The ultimate Cougar. Heartbreaking ending.
AJ: A+
Mount Rushmore of BYU. Enough said.
Kennard: C+
Had highs and lows, but overall was inconsistent with his shooting, effort and overall play. Expected much more of him
Keba: B
Keba had highs and lows, where his highs were high and lows were low, not sure what caused him to fluctuate so much. Played his role well.
Kostic: C
A lot was said about the sharpshooter from Eastern Europe, and we saw a few tiny flashes from him, but a lot of inconsistent and often a lackadaisical effort
Mahailo: C-
I had high hopes for the Big Man from Europe, but he often seemed unsure of his offensive play, second guessing his instincts.
Mboup: B-
Lots of potential. Flourished a lot when the game was made simple. Expect big things from him next season.
Mrus: D
My biggest disappointment. After being heralded as a shooter, to see him not be the sniper a-la Trevin Knell was disappointing.
Diomande: C
I had high hopes for him, but he never saw the court. Had some flashes of playing time early and then never found his space. Can he evolve into a reliable wing?
Ahmed: D
A lot of hyper surrounding the G-Leaguer, but was a big disappointment in the big moments and not someone BYU could count on. Failed experiment.
Baker: A-
Was headed to an incredible season, but fate wasn’t kind. Massive loss to BYU.
JMac: A
It’s not easy to have the positive attitude he has had his whole tenure. Found his way to contribute and to fit in.
Stanton: No Grade
Unsure of what to make of him. Lots of hype out of high school, didn’t see of him to even make a judgement. Does he stay next year?
Brody: No Grade
Another season ending injury. Potential out of the wazoo and would’ve been a reliable piece to the rotation. What happens next to the former top recruit?
Nate P:
Another enigma. How would his play have lifted the Cougs. We’ll never know.
Season: B
A very high salary sheet all around.
A disappointing ending.
Injuries are easily how you justify the results. Will the investment be there next season?
What will this team look like next season?
Any big moves?

@Godhaswon73 @ArizonaCoug1 @cougtillidie Will you ever STFU? This team doesn’t need trash fans like you.
English

@LordBarak @collinsworth55 Only in exposure. Actually that's not even true if you know history. BYU has been above this level in past.
Michael Smith team. Jimmer. Ainge. That's just a ignorant comment.
English

@Godhaswon73 @collinsworth55 BYU wouldn't even be here without KY. NO doubt it's frustrating that tjey could never figure out defense but this program is much more elevated than befire.
English

Anybody still questioning if AJ Dybantsa is the #1 pick in this draft!?
English

Huge failure!!
Worst in BYU basketball history.
Ben Criddle@CriddleBenjamin
BYU falls to Texas in the 1st round of the NCAA tournament. How would you describe the 2025-2026 season for the Cougars?

@jazzdoop @cougtillidie Screw that!
Rob is the worst point guard I seen. We need a point that facilitates, runs an actual offense. Rob is all hero ball.
English

@spidey_america @collinsworth55 You do that. Deny the product on the floor. Right before your eyes. I'll continue to speak truth. Hopefully he'll prove me wrong next year but its not looking good.
English

@Godhaswon73 @collinsworth55 Yeah I wasn’t at byu I was at BYU Hawaii…but ok. I’m gonna look at KYs track record and yours (doesn’t exist) and say KY knows ball better than you. Hopefully next year is better. Time will tell. Good chat.
English

@PostJimmer Fans that just point to that are completely dismissing the very obvious failures at fundamentals, effort, schemes on both sides of the ball.
The consistent issues game to game.
That's all coaching!

Not ALL BYU fans wear the blue goggles.
Jimmy Rex@JimmyRex
BYU tries to play an NBA style… it works in the nba cause the players don’t play hard. In college it creates an awful defense that can’t stop anyone. This will become a pattern for years sadly
English

@Godhaswon73 @erc95 One year ruined by injuries after a historic first season come on now
English

@spidey_america @collinsworth55 Ain't a chance on hell you played ball at BYU.
Coed doesn't count friend.
English

@Godhaswon73 @collinsworth55 Ok cuz you know ball better than Kevin young…dudes used to coaching stars that hustle. Effort is the only adjustment he’s still making that you just named. Learning how to motivate non stars. Nothing worth the hot seat over.
English

@tinfoilhatmatt1 @bearforheisman @collinsworth55 I'm not ready to say fire him. There needs to be major changes made in the off-season in his player evaluations and schemes though. If next season is anything like this then definitely get rid of him.
English

@bearforheisman @Godhaswon73 @collinsworth55 Fire the coach! Should have gone to hack-a-tslavikus or whatever the frick his name is at the 5 min mark. If not earlier.
That was a bummer for sure
