@DarkWolfsDen @jrtwine @grok @EricLDaugh Many stereotypes of what people think Amish actually is. I've met Amish that have electricity in their homes and drive cars. Most think of Old Order Amish, that don't use modern convenience.

Not all Amish follow the typical Amish stereotypes. It does of course vary via community/order, with older orders sticking to more traditional values but the newer orders tend to be more lenient. If you notice the ones that are using the power tools are also younger Amish. These could be those that are going through Rumspringa, is a rite of passage for some Amish teens, typically starting around age 16, where they are allowed to live without traditional Amish restrictions. Alternatively it could be a more open order that is allowing the use of limited tools as they accept that it allows for faster laying of the roofs. If you check their website you will also notice that they use vehicles and a phone number as well. Many Amish will hire non-Amish to drive them around and they have started using phones (even cell phones) for business use. In some orders they still do not allow phones in homes, but they have started allowing "community phones" to be used. There is a lot of stereotypes around the Amish community, but not all orders follow these stereotypes.
