Kenya's President, William Ruto, warns that the African Union #AU is "not fit for purpose" and cannot steer the "continent into the future". “I can tell you without an iota of doubt that the African Union, as it is today, is not fit to provide the leadership that this continent needs going into the future. Therefore, there's need for the reforms of the African Union”.
Perhaps- but one of the things brought out in this book is the diversity of experience and institutional practice across the African continent. So I think this analysis, similar to Bill Easterly, would question whether it would ever be sensible to propose a single 'African pathway.'
@ryancbriggs Its a fantastic book - not well enough known. He shows in painstaking detail that most of those countries did not in fact implement 'austerity' policies. That detail is what is needed before you can even start the debate about the rights and wrongs of structural adjustment
Mr Chapiti David Ndii, listen carefully because the country deserves the truth, not the fairy tales you spin. You did not write Chapter 12 of the Constitution on Public Finance. That is a fact anyone can check in the official records, and yet you parade your name as if proximity to power equals authorship. Newsflash: it doesn’t. The ERS? Written by @AnyangNyongo, not you. Yet here you are, standing on borrowed achievements, inflating your CV as though repetition and bluster can turn lies into history. You’ve built an entire public persona on rewriting reality, claiming credit for work you did not do, confusing access and influence with intellect. Kenya deserves better than a man who mistakes loud opinions for scholarship, whose arrogance makes him believe that shouting “I wrote it” replaces evidence. Your time at @KeEquityBank didn’t end with accolades either, but you seem to prefer erasing inconvenient facts rather than confronting them. Stop lying. Stop inflating your importance. The country is not a stage for your self-aggrandizement. You are not a genius, you are not an author of history, and you are certainly not untouchable. Facts are stubborn, and sooner or later, they will expose every exaggeration, every false claim, and every inflated ego. The truth is coming for you, David, whether you like it or not.
