@HtgaelSlavek @Critical_Scribe A more subtle consequence is that it trains audiences to assume those characters are simply in the story for virtue signalling points or as a token, instead for legitimate narrative-driving purposes. I'd argue that it's done incredible damage to the discourse of media over time.
