Ninth Grader Demi Johnson receives National Geographic award for plan to save Mississippi's oyster reef population. The ninth grader has produced 1,100 oysters that will in turn spawn millions of larvae into the ecosystem, a huge ecological impact
i asked a girl to watch my shop for few days while i travelled. nothing serious, just open in the morning, close at night and keep things moving.
on the 2nd day,
she sent me a full breakdown of sales, customer behavior and even which products people kept asking for but we didn’t stock and by the 3rd day, she had rearranged the shelves, cleaned the backroom and somehow convinced a few regulars to start buying in bulk.
when i got back, the place didn’t just look better, it was running smarter. i told her she went overboard, she just smiled and said she hates wasted potential.
later i found out she had been trying to start her own business but didn’t have the capital so she studied other people’s systems instead. i connected her to someone who invests in small retail expansions.
last i heard, she’s running her own spot now. one of my tiniest wholesome lore here.
some people aren’t waiting for opportunities, they prepare so well that opportunities start looking for them.
