@tylerbritton_ Always been a playoff riser 15/5/5 in the playoffs since 2019
35% 3pt% on 7 attempts
+2.4 on/off
English

Marcus Smart is impacting the game like a superstar right now.
Never hesitant getting 3s up, and has the ability to get hot like he has tonight. Legitimately running the point guard full-time, initiating most of their offense and making all of the right decisions.
Not to mention everything he's done defensively, from full-court pressure to timely rotations.
S-tier performance.
English

@Sxne19iv2 The offense has gotten worse the last 3 years in the playoffs when he’s on
There’s just outlier shooting luck making the magic DRTG 118 in the 100 mins he’s off due to small sample size

English

@pmmbasketball Not to mention ignoring play styles in the comparison just because they’re all forwards
Tatum and brown at this point in time were both shooting 39% from 3 on 7+ attempts and neither were defensive negatives like Paolo
English

@StanleySwanson0 You’re the casual at this same point in time the Celtics were a 1st round exit yes but had already made the ECF multiple times prior
Also this apples to apples player comparison because they’re all wings despite not being stylistically similar is terrible
English

Same exact conversations were being had about Jalen Brown and Tatum.
People just want instant gratification in today’s NBA and it shows who’s a casual and who’s actually watching the games .
Joel Moran@joelvmoran
I think the Magic need to make the decision of either trading Paolo Banchero or Franz Wagner. Imo it should be Paolo. Franz is a better driver, defender, and more efficient at the rim. They can't play together, and Franz has been better for years now.
English

Paolo and Franz sorry as hell man this roster is loaded
Be Magic Or Be Gone! @BeORLMagic
Build Sham God a statue for what he’s turned AB into
English

@odensshadow @nikolinalepht @Betlifesports Nah but that doesn’t rlly matter in the context of the discussion.
It’s an ATG playoff series. That efficiency on that volume is unbelievable while being great defensively.
But I’m assuming you know that and you’re just tryna bait

Are you guys retards ?
Almost like ppg isn’t the defining factor of how good you are you clowns
English

@Carsobi Derrick White, OG and Gordon are all stars in a just society
English

Christian Bale and I personally don’t think it’s close either
Jay bull@Sephanade
This might be close… who’s the #1 actor overall...
English

@GoodGuyWill_ How about you stop trolling and come cuddle me
English

@Mr__UziSquirt I also like Bale more I was just doin a little trolling hehe
English

@GoodGuyWill_ Not debating how great Leo is, that’s why I said “personally”. When I watch Bale act, it’s like he, in my opinion, takes on the character in a way that’s different than anything Leo does, captivates me and immerses me more. But I obviously love Leo. I just love Bale more
English

@Mr__UziSquirt What’s eating Gilbert Grape, Basketball Diaries, Romeo & Juliet, and Titanic by age 23 and he just did OBAA
THIS IS LEBRON
English

these arguments are always using current era metrics to compare players who played in an era where teams did not evaluate or optimize players based on those metrics
always been silly to me
David Lee@dlee4three
In my heart I’m not much of a Tim Duncan “hater” but I couldn’t pass up an opportunity to spread the gospel Here’s a snippet of my argument for Kevin Garnett’s case as the best power forward in NBA history
English

@GoodGuyWill_ @ASAP_Pain_ 3 manhattans, ribeye special, cigarette… next question
English

@EuroFootyIQ @SamQuinnCBS +18 on/off swing +13 ORTG swing
Turning a good team into an all time great team is good
English

@SamQuinnCBS He didn’t win 73 by himself. Loaded, all time loaded warriors did. Yet again using team success to make a point.
If they won 57 games would you say he won 57? No, that stat wouldn’t be used at all.
English

Steals gave Steph two MVPs bro he made 400 3s and won 73 games.
77 Jared@LALexcptionalst
Steals were the very metric used to give Steph Curry two MVP’s. Now steals are meaningless when Luka is leading the league.
English

@19_loading Because Luka hasn’t elevated the team to a comparable level to OKC.
Cool his team is worse. And the results are also worse. His on court impact is less, his team has won 11 less games. The net rating is +1 compared to okc +11.
Shai is making a good team an all time great team
English

@GoodGuyWill_ MVP stands for Most Valuable Player
Roster quality is a huge factor. Austin Reaves with 41 year old LeBron plus a bunch of JAGs is a play-in roster.
I don’t see how it isn’t relevant
English

At some point we have to be honest about what MVP actually means.
Take Luka off the Lakers and Shai off the Thunder. Which team needs their guy more?
Luka averages more points, more rebounds, AND more assists than Shai on a roster that frankly, after acknowledging LeBron (41 years old btw) and Reaves, isn’t all that good. Shai has far more help.
People love to discount “counting stats” and say that efficiency is the true measure of how “valuable” someone is to their team or the league as a whole... But here’s a way to think about it:
Lakers PPG minus Luka: 83.1
Thunder PPG minus Shai: 87.2
That means Shai gets about a four-point head start in every game over Luka — so it’s no coincidence that their record is better. And that’s not even accounting for the assists, of which Luka gets 1.8 more per game than Shai.
Value isn’t just about efficiency. It’s also about how much your team depends on you to function properly night after night.
The simple fact is that Luka benefits HIS TEAM more than Shai does his. And as much as it pains me as a Celtics fan to stump for a Laker to be the MVP, it doesn’t make sense any other way.
We have to be objective: It’s clearly Luka for MVP this season.
